Confession: I bought this entirely for the cover 😁

Kippy has a distinctive, at times cringe-inducing, personality, and her fellow Friendship, WI residents are no different. Hale leans into these almost caricature-like types to create much of the book's sharp, dark comedy. It wasn't laugh-out loud funny for me so much as inducing wry eyebrow raises, and this is certainly not recommended for the easily offended.

Anything you want to be, you can come be that with me. Rain or shine, no problem.

Absolutely awful. The only redeeming quality of this novel is the cover. The writing was bad, the characters were ridiculous in a very bad way, and the plot was boring.

Very cool cover but that is all I liked about it. I would NOT add it to a school library - any school library! Loads of cussing, sexual references, and strange characters. I question my sanity for staying with this book until the end!

When local teen Ruth Fried is found murdered in a cornfield, her best friend, Kippy Bushman, decides she must uncover the truth and catch the killer. Since the police aren't much help, Kippy looks to her idol, journalist Diane Sawyer, for tips on how to conduct her investigation. But Kippy soon discovers, if you want to dig up the truth, your hands have to get a little dirty.

My favorite #laidbackbook is a good mystery. This one had me in stitches. I can only describe it as Fargo meets Veronica Mars. It's not going to change your world, but it's highly enjoyable! #augustphotochallenge

This book was so much more dark and twisty than I was expecting, but the story kept me interested, and had me second guessing my suspicions! Would highly recommend!
