First of a new series for me. I‘ve read quite a few from Box but not these until now. I liked this one. The main character is a troubled hero. I liked the alcoholic storyline and seeking recovery. The murder drama potion of the story is comparable to others by the author. I find them well written, enjoyable, and well developed.

This was a promising first installment in a series that I‘m looking forward to reading more of.

I‘ve been trying to find a good place to sell books for years and have always used eBay or just took them to my local used book store for a $1 credit, but will be using this from now on.

Audiobook on a long road trip. Good pace and it kept me interested all the way through even though the clues weren‘t revealed very fast. That usually frustrates me but the characters were interesting enough to make up for it. First in a series of four and we plan to listen to the next ones.

I finished my first book of 2021! I really enjoyed this book! I‘m planning to read The Highway next which the show Big Sky is based off of. I really enjoyed the show so I‘m excited to read the book. This book introduces Cody Hoyt and it kept me wanting more the entire time. 🌟🌟🌟🌟!

Started the series because there's a new TV series coming out based on the characters. It was not my cup of tea. The writing of the female characters was awkward and sometimes cringey. Might go forward with the series, but not in any rush.

Wasn‘t great. Wasn‘t terrible. Helped me go back to sleep at night.

I had never read a CJ Box book but wanted to go with this #Wyoming author for #ReadTheUSA2020. And of course my heat seeking missile for love of Montana landed on a story predominantly told in the county of my birth.. This is an easy read with predictable characters that could bore some readers. But I felt warm fuzzies every time he mentioned lodgepole pines since those are the trees of my youth.

A little lazy Sunday reading.

Nothing super fancy here. Predictable but engaging enough to make me want to continue with the trilogy. Cody is no Will Trent, though. 😉

Hmmm. 9% in to Mean Streak and not loving it. Any opinions on Back of Beyond? Might try this one instead.

Audiobook
Passed the time while on commute or walking dog. It was generally okay. Found the lead a touch ott and a bit misogynistic. Seems to be a feature of male leads in these "thrillers". I can see where the tension is supposed to ratchet up by the flicking between characters in chapters but never felt it. Was not rushing to get to the climactic end as you are with good thrillers. Still it did help kill time

This was 1 of the audiobooks I listened to on my road trip last week & it kept me engaged!! Cody Hoyt is a detective back in his home town & his reputation has preceded him & not in a good way. But when a trusted friend dies in questionable circumstances he enlists the help of the best detective on the force. The clues lead Cody to an off the books trip into wilderness of Yellowstone & a tour group his son is a part of. Murder & mayhem & So good!!
