Finished this audiobook and really liked it!
Now I'm watching the movie and it is SO different. Only about 30 minutes in and I am hating it :(
They should have cast Wil Wheaton in the movie, he was great

Ending was sad and overall book was not as scary I thought it would be. It was a quick and entertaining read and was spooky to me last night during a rainy Saturday night. If I knew that the scary bits were behind me about halfway in, I would have finished last night. Instead I woke up early to finish in time for the end of #deweys24hourreadathon
In total I read 7 hours
Finished tagged book and started another. Still working through my audio
I only got 2 hours and 45 minutes of my audiobook in for #deweys24hourreadathon so far. But I had a great day with the kiddos and even have the perfect snack to enjoy as I start this one 👻
Starting off #deweys24hourreadathon by baking brownies to decorate with the nephews this afternoon and listening to tagged book. I'm about 50% in and really liking it!
Reading forecast for today is low (been up since 3am for some reason and I planned time with family but I'm gonna do what I can!) Here we go
It's startling, but true! For today's points check in I'm at 2,202 for #teamslaughter for #scarathlon2020
@Clwojick
Ran out of room and being called to do some yard work, but that was good for 1980 points! Needed that boast :)

#teamslaughter #scarathlon2020
My favorite creepy movie musical number 🖤🦃 Counting it for 5 points for #teamslaughter
Plus 1 for the post #scarathlon2020
Another book down on my #scarathlon2020 TBR. I suspected the twist ending, but still really liked how the story developed. I haven't read a YA thriller before, but this one makes me want to find more.

I decided to read this for #scarathlon2020 points because it was Halloween themed.
Very reminiscent of Stephen King, this book was disturbing, spooky, and LONG. I enjoyed this story, but didn't realize it was part of a series. The epilouge left things open ended and I needed more of a payoff than what I got. For someone who wants to get invested in a series and enjoys King, worth the read. For me, only a so-so.
I caught the sunrise this morning and this foresome in the water reminded me of the tagged book which I started yesterday.
This month has been stressful for me, but I've had a great weekend so far. Hoping I can spend some time today reading in between errands and catching up on work.
I'm getting behind in #scarathlon2020 but still putting up points when I can.
Finished this one for the #teamslaughter #buddyread
I was disappointed in the ending. There was so much great lead up, but I guessed one of the twists pretty early on and the rest of the loose ends wrapped up in a somewhat rushed way.
Still really enjoyed the book. I'd definitely say worth the read and would read more by this author.
51 points for #scarathlon2020 @Clwojick Thanks for the great pick!
#bookspin is A Cookbook Conspiracy by Kate Carlisle
#doublespin is A Climate of Fear by Fred Vargas. Loving that they line up for a bingo 😄
Yesterday was a tough day at work, so I am looking forward to relaxing today and adding some points for #scarathlon2020. Wracked up a few by watching an episode of Ratched while making my board.

Not sure Penny liked it, but we watched Frankenweenie for 5 points in #scarathlon2020 for #teamslaughter
@Clwojick
It's October! Yay! I started this audiobook as I got ready for work. Already scary; I hope I can make it through without too many nightmares.
Thankfully I have a lot less horror on my TBR for #scarathlon2020 but wanted to get this one in since it's Halloween themed.
Go #TeamSlaughter !

My final #bookspinbingo update for the month.
I can't believe September is over!
Finished a lot of really good books, but my favorite was definitely The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Funny, sad and entertaining.
My one wish is that Dan and Angela fall off the Eiffel Tower
Loved the writing and thought the mystery of the house and hauntings were great. I loved the main character, Noemi, but most of the other characters should have been fleshed out so much more. And then there is the ending. Wow. It was....weird, to put it nicely.
Overall, I liked it, but definitely not a favorite.
My #bookspin picks for October. Trying to fit in as many points as I can for #teamslaughter during October's #scarathlon2020 👹👻🍬🎃
@TheAromaofBooks
Started the series because there's a new TV series coming out based on the characters. It was not my cup of tea. The writing of the female characters was awkward and sometimes cringey. Might go forward with the series, but not in any rush.
The book was well written, but I just couldn't identify with the author at all. I expected the group therapy to center more around the author's eating disorder and trauma from her childhood, but about 1/3 of the way it became a constant recollection of failed, miserable relationship followed by failed relationship, followed by failed relationship. Exhausting and not too compelling.
Either way, completed my line for #bookspinbingo
Books on my shelf for #scarathlon2020
Just ordered a few more on Book Outlet, including the tagged book for #buddyreads for $2.79! Hoping shipping won't take too long 😱

Feeling the Halloween vibes early with this one 👻. I was really enjoying this one, but stalled out about 80% of the way through. Still really liked the book, but the ending felt like all the mystery was wrapped up and no huge urge to finish.
Really feeling the #LitsyLove tonight! Thank you @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks for sending this package my way! I am so excited to go through this and dream of Paris 😍🥰
Finished my #bookspin today. I feel like I got off easy since it's a children's book. But I never read Roald Dahl as a kid even though I loved all the movie adaptations. Working my way through his books now at age 35. Never to late to enjoy a great story
@TheAromaofBooks
I love a good YA series 💌 Sad this is the end because I adore Lara Jean. She's an old soul in her tastes but so sweetly naive in her inexperience. I hope the final movie stays true to the book, but maybe gives us a little peek into their college freshman year and even beyond.
Sidenote, I need LJ's perfected chocolate chip cookie recipe to see how it stacks up to my mother's 🍪
#Doublespin
Ruth and her mother, LuLing, have always had a strained relationship. As an adult, caring for elderly LuLing, Ruth learns more about her mother's life that explains why.
This book has three parts. It starts with present day Ruth; pre-revolutionary China; and back to present. I would have liked to read more about LuLing in China, but the anchoring of present Ruth rounded out the story well.
@TheAromaofBooks
I don't know what I expected this book to be, but it was not this! And I definitely didn't think it would live up to the hype I've seen (especially since I didn't like Daisy Jones and the Six also by this author), but WOW I loved this book! I had all the emotions! ❤😡😮🤯😭😭😭
I listened to the audiobook which made it just that much more fantastic!
It only took me 10 minutes to set up my #bookspinbingo this month! Not taking an hour to set this up leaves me with more time for reading! Yay!
Came down to the wire, but I finished tonight to complete two lines for #bookspinbingo for August. Excited for September!
Tagged book was a bit slow to start, but did eventually pick up and I enjoyed it. I have never read about the Russian revolution so it was fascinating to learn more. The story follows three women and I found myself rooting for all of them, even as they found themselves on opposing sides of the revolution.
Finished this one off on the dog beach today with my mom's little guy. Still enjoying the series, looking forward to book 3.
My #bookspin for September # 1-20 and I plan on making a bingo board with these and 5 wildcard audiobooks. August was very successful, I'm excited to see how I do this month!
@TheAromaofBooks
Finished my #bookspin yesterday. It explained how the food we have today is so much blander than food in decades past and what we have done to combat that with lab generated "flavors". It was some interesting food for thought lol sorry the pun had to be made.
I started Lost Roses to get that double bingo before Augut ends!
@TheAromaofBooks
Had to switch it up to a fun easy read to get there, but I just hit 24:00 and I am ready for bed!

I have been raving about this one to anyone I know who loved the original Hunger Games triology.

I'm 93% of the way through Daisy Jones audiobook which will put my book count at 3 for #mbcreadathon when I finish. Never really got into this book. I thought Daisy was going to be an awesome rocker chick and she's just a strung out singer. Maybe the ending is her redemption, but if the story wraps up as I think it will, this will be a pan for me.
#mbcgiveaway11
- I do borrow, but the pressure to read quickly gets to me
- Has to be quiet, I'm too easily distracted
- I prefer standalone because I have no patience for an author to release in a long running series (looking at you George R.R. Martin)
- I think being a reviewer would ruin reading for me, but writing would be different enough to keep me reading for fun

Ok, I'm getting serious today for #mbcreadathon
I was hoping to be halfway through, but I let distractions get me yesterday.
I gave my husband the go ahead to go fishing which is usually an all day event. My phone is going in a different room. And I am starting the tagged book to get the momentum running with an easy read.
#mbcgiveaway9
Had to do some research because I don't know much about what's releasing this year. This one sounds like a good premise!

Check in for #mbcreadathon with the book I just finished and the last painting I completed 🖌
I didn't find this book too thrilling. A forgery of a 17th century painting intertwines the lives of three people: the artist, the owner, and the woman who paints the copy. I was hoping for some higher stakes, but don't feel it delivered.

Finally got some time to sit and read, so I'm about halfway through with the tagged book.

My favorite series is Harry Potter, but who doesn't love HP? And if you don't, I'll try to overlook that fact.
Thought I'd pick a series I loved when I should have been reading Harry. I read Clan of the Cavebears when I was in 7th grade. Maybe a little bit young, but I loved it and binged the Earth's Children series.
I haven't reread it in a long time, but it is one I want to revisit again soon

Trudging along at work. It's been a long day; I can't wait for the weekend.
I did get some minutes on the commute and at lunch.
The audiobook is pretty cool with a full cast voicing each character. Liking the story only so-so, hoping it picks up a bit.

Planning on tackling these and some audiobooks during the readathon. I'm starting with The Last Painting, but don't know if I'll jump around or finish one before cracking the next. Today will be a bit of a slump because I have work 😒 and then a wake for a colleague's husband tonight 🙁 But most of my weekend is open and Ready to Read!

Finished my first line in #bookspinbingo
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah was definitely my favorite. Least favorite was Mrs. Fletcher by Tom Perrota. Moving on to the bottom row to try for two lines this month.
@TheAromaofBooks
What better thing to do when you can't sleep then start the book that will get a BINGO for #bookspinbingo
Can't read this without a chocolate near by, just in case.
Really good! Definitely want to re-read this one (which I very rarely do), but really want to listen to the audiobook having seen others reviews praising it. I have never paid much attention to Trevor Noah before but think I have a little crush on him now 💓
