Book #12 for #14Books14Weeks2021 . Yes, I am behind and I did not finish in time but I am going to finish lol. This book has been lingering on my stack since purchasing on a recommendation last spring. With a cover rivaling that of one of my favorites, Cork Dork by by Bianca Bosker, I knew I had to read this book! Wine girl reads like a memoir just like Cork Dork does. Fascinating and riveting. While I (cont in comments)

TheHeartlandBookFairy enjoyed the story of Victoria's background to some extent, what I really enjoyed reading the most was was her journey to becoming a Sommelier and all of the interesting wine facts and tidbits along the way. 3y
Ruthiella I like the cork sculpture! 🍷 3y

#11 Of #14Books14Weeks2021 . I love reading and supporting local authors and was happy to do so with this book. My review is mixed, my thoughts conflicted. I want to love everything written by local authors, by those I've met & respect. I enjoyed the individual chapters, the reunions if you will, in this book. I thought the overall message was meaningful. But somehow, the book lacked a cohesiveness for me. Why (cont in comments)

TheHeartlandBookFairy was Sky experiencing burnout? What brought him to that point? And at the end of the story, how was he going to use the lessons that he learned to move forward. How is he going to implement changes and what was he expecting from them? Both interesting and yet a bit predictable. This book has the potential to be incredibly inspirational but somehow falls slightly short of that for me.
A decent enough 1st book for this author, (cont)

A decent enough 1st book for this author author, perhaps a double but not a home run. I'll definitely pursue his next book as I often find it interesting to see how an author grows in grows into their writing.

#14books14weeks2021 update: I made it almost exactly halfway through my list, currently reading the 8th book from it. Nowhere near finishing my stack, but it was a fun challenge anyways, as always.

Thanks for hosting @TheHeartlandBookFairy !

TheHeartlandBookFairy Thanks for joining in! 😊 3y

I managed to read 13 of the planned books of #14Books14Weeks2021 . I‘ll have to read the Winterson title later, but I will get to it eventually. 🤞

Thanks so much to @TheHeartlandBookFairy for hosting! 😀 This really helped put a dent in those books I‘ve had for ages.

Leftcoastzen Love your Gumby and Pokey! 3y
Ruthiella @Leftcoastzen Thanks! ☺️ 3y
TheHeartlandBookFairy Nice job! I'm just finishing up book 11 and I'm halfway through book 12. 2 more to go yet. Things just keep popping up that get in the way of my reading time, ugg! I will finish this up soon though 😁 3y

Ruthiella @TheHeartlandBookFairy I hope you host this again in 2022! I‘ll maybe be more strategic and pick shorter books. 😉 On the other hand, I do like a challenge! (edited) 3y
Reggie Wow, great job! Also, did you ever get scared watching Gumby when the box headed guys came on. For some reason I remember feeling fear when I used to watch it as a kid. 3y
Ruthiella @Reggie Thanks! 😊 No, I never felt fear when watching Gumby as a kid! 😂 I do remember having to plug my ears when Ricky would get mad at Lucy watching I Love Lucy, however. Children are wonderful but strange. 😅 3y
kspenmoll Impressive !!!! Plus Gumby!😀💜 3y

My last completed book for #14Books14Weeks2021 . St. Aubyn‘s writing is sharp, for that alone, these books are worth reading. The trajectory of Patrick‘s life over the course of the four novels is often unbearably sad and there are no feel-good triumphs that another writer might be tempted to add. Despite the drama and pain, there is also biting humor. I laughed out loud more than once. In particular, the author skewers British aristocracy.

TheHeartlandBookFairy Great job, congratulations! 3y
Cathythoughts Sounds good ! Stacking 3y
Ruthiella @Cathythoughts These books are really good, but they don‘t offer much comfort. I need to follow up with something warm and positive. 3y
Cathythoughts That sounds fine with me .. I like the dark & the light … 👍🏻❤️ 3y

Well, here it is, Labor Day. I completed 13 of my #14Books14Weeks2021 stack, having skipped The Children of the New Forest. I‘ll get to it, eventually, I do want to read it, but it just keeps getting bumped. I read tons of other books this summer, though! Thanks for hosting @TheHeartlandBookFairy - always a good challenge.

Ruthiella Well done! 👏👏👏 3y

Pickpick

A light pick, as the narrative started to drag a bit towards the end. But, ultimately, an important fictionalized account of Belle de Costa Greene, personal librarian to JP Morgan, and a woman who has a secret that could change everything. What a remarkable woman! Like any good historical fiction story, this makes me want to learn more about Belle…I had no knowledge of her prior to reading this book. So good that her story is being told.

Librarybelle Thanks to the publisher and to #NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Also, my first (!) read for #14Books14Weeks2021 @TheHeartlandBookFairy , my August #BookSpin @TheAromaofBooks , and my selection for #TitleIncludesLibraryorLibrarian for #Booked2021 @4thhouseontheleft , @BarbaraTheBibliophage , and @Cinfhen 3y
Cinfhen Woohoo 🙌🏻 sounds like a good read!!! 3y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great review! And all those challenge-related successes. Way to go! 3y
