Elizabeth George because I'm completely hooked on the Inspector Lynley series and Louise Penny because I'm also completely devoted to her Gamache/Three Pines series. ❤️🔪🕵🏻🕵🏻♀️
Inspired by @kmdartist and those who have taken a page from her book (get it?), here are the #3authors who have influenced me most: Dorothy Parker for her unwavering sharp wit, Joan Didion for her thoughtful cultural and personal commentary, and Lorrie Moore for her beautiful, relatable, and accessible prose.

Enid Blyton, I devoured almost all her books, from Naughtiest Girl to boarding school series; Agatha Christie, made me fall in love with detective/mystery stories; Jane Austen, sparked my interest in classic stories with her sense of humour & social critique on British historical social class. 😊 @kmdartist

Haruki Murakami showed me that mental health issues aren't something to be ashamed of and that some of the best literary characters can be afflicted by them.
JK Rowling brought me away from my real life into a world full of magic and introduced me to Hermione, Ginny, &Luna. #girlpower
Peter Balakian introduced me to the Armenian Genocide & started my journey into that type of history that continues today.
#3Authors: Miriam Toews. Flannery O'Connor. Michael Crummey. I cannot count the ways I love and admire these three writers. The abilities they have with language and conveying emotion on the page are incredible. A little dark and twisty sometimes, but funny, smart and all heart! For me, they are a true gift - and not just to my literary life. They have given me so many wonderful hours of contemplation. Who are your three authors?
Stevenson wrote the first book I remember reading on my own - and I read it A LOT. I even made up my own stories about the illustrations or tried to figure out how they fit the poems. Doyle was my introduction to mysteries and a connection to my mom and maternal grandmother. Bradbury's Fahrenheit 51, along with Dickens' work, has helped to shape the way I see the world today. #3authors

In HS, I read Sharon Olds for the first time and fell in love with poetry.
Junior year, I read The Handmaid's Tale (on my own) and nothing was ever the same.
Last year, I read and taught Everything I Never Told You by @Pronounced_ing and it's a fantastic novel, plus Celeste is an amazing voice for equality
