A memoir from a food blogger filled with recipes, many inspired by the author's visits to Paris. I made the French lemon yogourt cake from it and it was delicious!

Mehso-so

Finally finished January's #FurrowedMiddlebrowClub selection. The story was cleverly constructed but I found the huge portion of the book that was Aunt Addie's novel really dragged.

LeahBergen That seemed to be a common opinion of the group! 😆 4d
Ruthiella Yes, this was a wee bit of a chore to read. 😅 4d
kwmg40 @LeahBergen @Ruthiella Despite the tedium of reading the book-within-the-book, I'm willing to read more by Eleanor Farjeon. I did like other aspects of the novel. 18h

A humorous adventure about a robot who discovers he has murdered his master and tries to understand why and what to do next. An interesting look at AI, robots and the meaning of life (artificial or otherwise).

This was a reread for me, and I forgot how much I enjoyed this when I read it several years ago—I reread it for my IRL book club, and the other members were not as enthusiastic. Still a pick for me!

Hopefully this propels me to continue with the series. #LitsyAToZ #LetterH #52BookClub25 #HasAnEpigraph

KathyWheeler I really enjoyed this series until the last few books. 5d
Librarybelle @KathyWheeler Sometimes series go on for way too long. 4d
KathyWheeler @Librarybelle you‘re right. For me it just got tiring hearing her fawn over Derek all the time. 4d
Librarybelle @KathyWheeler I had to sit the Hannah Swenson series by Joanne Fluke to the side…it just got so repetitive and absurd for me. Though, the recipes sounded delicious! 4d

The book lost a quarter of a star because the writing is clunky in places, but I loved it and will be continuing the series. I especially liked the historical and pop culture references.

I had this sitting on my shelf for years and was happy that the #HashtagBrigade motivated me to finally read it. I suppose I'd put it off because of the heavy themes, including mental illness and suicide. The novel was indeed disturbing and difficult to read, but also engrossing, poignant and even really humorous at times.

I liked this Discworld installment featuring Moist von Lipwig, though not as much as I liked Going Postal, in which he was introduced. I loved the introduction of canine Mr.Fusspot as chairman of the bank! As usual, Pratchett's satirical observations of the world are spot on.

I was not sure what to expect when I started listening to this (thanks to Libro.fm for the ALC opportunity), but this story is more somber than the cover suggests. It‘s very contemplative but yet also offers hope for new beginnings (hence the title). The audio narration is engaging, and I enjoyed listening to this while doing household chores and preparing kitty medicine. #52BookClub25 #AuthorsLastNameIsAlsoAFirstName #LitsyAToZ #LetterN
