We‘re due to start the fourth book in the #SeanDuffySeriesRead today, but as I am at my granddaughter‘s christening today and travelling to John O‘Groats after that (400 miles), I will not be able to start this one until tomorrow.
Do keep us all posted on your progression through the book. #AdrianMcKintySeriesRead
EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_reads @JaclynW I may not be able to read this until Monday as I‘m working on my Buddy Read and listening to Jane Casey book. (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB That‘s no problem. 😊 We‘ll all be reading at our own speeds anyway. 6y
Tove_Reads I‘m still waiting for the Idiot who refuses to take it back to the library so I can read it. No way to know when that happens. 6y

Tove_Reads I‘ll probably read The Last Girl first. @Andrew65 @EadieB 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I‘m planning to start The Last Girl Monday. Don‘t you hate it when people don‘t return books. That‘s why I like ebook lending, the book cannot be accessed or disappears after the due date. 6y
Tove_Reads @Andrew65 The punishment should be more than 20 cents a day! 🤯 6y
TrishB Enjoy your weekend 😁 6y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Destroy their library card! 😂 6y
Andrew65 @TrishB Thanks, hope you do too and get some good destressing time. 6y
JaclynW @andrew65 @eadieb @tove_reads I started the book. It's been slow going because I've been so busy with kid stuff and the school year ending. 6y
EadieB @Tove_Reads I think they should be prosecuted and get 20 years in jail. @Andrew 6y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Sounds good to me! @Andrew65 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW We‘ve finished for a week having just completed the SATs, but then still another 7 weeks to go after that! 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 Seven more weeks!! Countdown! My kids are glad school is over and are excited for summer. 😊 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW How long do they have off over the Summer? 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 They are of until August 20th. 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW That‘s a long break. We get six weeks, although some schools have even shortened that! 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 You must get longer school breaks around Christmas and Easter. We don't, so we get out early for summer. My friends in Ireland have breaks like you it sounds like. 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW We have 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter, six weeks in the Summer, and 3 ‘1 week‘ half term breaks. All told children have 13 weeks away from school and do 39 school weeks. Think we have amongst the longest school year in Europe. (edited) 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 Wow! Do you like the school year broken up like this? 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW It has always been the set pattern so hard to compare it with other ways of organising the school year. Effectively six half terms of 6 or seven weeks in the Main. (edited) 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 We get a 2 week Christmas break. We only had Good Friday off around Easter this year. We do have a Spring Break (in March or April usually) that is 5 days typically. The rest of the days off school are 1/2 days or 1-2 day breaks here and there throughout the year (end of term, other minor holidays, teacher training days, etc.). 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW That explains the long Summer. Our children are 3 - 11, they seem more than ready for a holiday (tiredness etc) after a six week half term, let alone the periods when we have a 7 or 8 week half-term. Teachers too seem more than ready for a break, exhaustion (as shown by absence levels at end of long terms). Not sure how you cope with the longer terms it looks like you have. 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 We all definitely get exhausted with the long work periods. Teachers, students and even the parents need more frequent breaks. Your way of doing breaks makes more sense in this way. The one thing we have to deal with is hot summers with many schools not having adequate or no air conditioning. It's hard to learn and teach when you are burning up. 6y
Andrew65 @JaclynW That has been come more of an issue for us too with one or two Hot summers and lack of air conditioning. I always feel six weeks is the maximum for effectiveness before a break. 5 weeks would be even better. The children are worked hard with the onerous demands in the current curriculum. 6y
JaclynW @Andrew65 Exactly! The demands on our curriculum have increased as well. 6y
