An intriguing historical account of the beginning of America's war for independence. Very well written, it not only details the events, but also the conflicting ideals of the people and nations involved. America ultimately won its independence, but had cooler heads prevailed that independence may never have been fought for, or even desired. A worthwhile read.

Next up for reading. I remember watching the HBO series several years ago, but never read the book.

Today I learned about the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission, which was created in the 1950s to fight desegregation and maintain White supremacy. I now know that their tactics helped to inspire the FBI to create COINTELPRO. #todayilearned #nfn #nonfictionnovember

A lovely roundup of several lesser known figures from American history set alongside a few names you‘ll recognize. It could get a tad confusing as to who was being highlighted at times - there were some meandering tangents to follow - but good to remember those who helped settle, educate, and work to improve our country. It‘s a light read, with lots of personal asides from the author. Almost feels like YA nonfiction.

Interesting and informative. Lots of fascinating details. I read this slowly over the course of several months, one State at a time. Now I know that the shapes of the States are not nearly as random as they seem!

Been reading #WhenPeopleWereThings by Lisa Waller Rogers. So far it‘s a great book. I haven‘t read too far into it, because I just started reading recently, but so far it‘s spot on in the truth of history. It‘s an arc from #netgalley . Looking forward to reading more. 🙂📚🍂🧡🍂🙂

I learned much and feel more hopeful about peoples‘ ability & willingness to do good things when needed. I also loved Sharon‘s periodic cheeky commentary. 😉
