I tried print and audio. A whole lot of telling going on and I‘m bored. I think I‘d be better off reading Mathilda Kschessinska‘s own Dancing in Petersburg.

Rather than fill in the blanks for a new month I am going to keep with the same list so I can see progress rather than a blank slate. Currently reading Murder on Black Swan Lane. Good so far.

I do not reread much but I do have a few that I can‘t get enough of.
1) Joy in the Morning - Betty Smith
2) The Night Circus
3) Jane Austin
You all are invited to play along!
Another great read from the #WomensPrize longlist. A story of connection to family, work, homeland and navigating that in difficult circumstances.
I am reading but not doing well at sticking with plan. Here‘s my loosy goosy #BookspinBingo list.
@TheAromaofBooks
1) Foster and Small Things Like These
2) The Housekeeper and the Professor
3) Our Souls at Night
#TLT #ThreeListThursday
@dabbe
It‘s hard to say I enjoyed this book because it is so full of hurt, so full of ordinary human failings. It‘s raw and unflinching in its portrayal of a family who experience a horrific event, going back to the beginning and thru to the other side. 4.5 🌟
#WomensPrizeLonglist.
1) Any holiday I can have both kids and my dad together is my favorite. Usually Thanksgiving and Christmas, sometimes Easter.
2) My dad or my daughter
3) Spending summer days at Soap Lake or Sun Lakes, camping at Salmon lake Sac, sailing on Lake Washington, or sledding down Suicide Hill

@TieDyeDude bonus track had me out of my seat so I followed up with this one in my little dance party of one.

#NancyDrewBR
Phantom horses and a treasure hunt equal another fun outing with Nancy and her friends. Not as much danger as the first 4 books and I cringed a little with the “costumes” for the dance but a fun read.
The other pic is my new needle safe. I thought Nancy Drew fans and #LitsyCrafters would get a kick out of it.
Tough subject matter but I loved this book so much. I loved how it spoke to chaos and trauma in your growing up years. I loved the journey to growth the MC made. It will stay with me. 5 🌟

TW: Suicide, Disordered eating
#AuthorAMonth #52Bookclub24 #FeaturesanOcean
I listened to this in a day while stitching. It‘s an easy read, not a lot of tension with mostly likable characters. The story slowly unfolds what really happened during an unusually violent storm and the drowning of two loved men from a small community. 3.5 🌟
#TLT #ThreeListThursday
1) Tagged is top of my list every time
2) A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
3) Anne of Green Gables
Come and play everyone 😀
Thanks for the tag @dabbe
I finished a book! The audio was good and the story mostly made me feel icky. And I still don‘t where the complete truth lies so the book did its job.
#WondrousWednesday
1) Putting off the hard or unpleasant thing doesn‘t make it easier and it rarely is as bad as you think it‘s going to be.
2) Mostly retired tax consultant
3) Totally retired traveler

1) I hated my name growing up. My dad tells me he picked Debra from the actress Debra Paget. I think he said that in an attempt to get me to like it.
2) The tagged book is on my TBR and has Deborah as the MC.

Big mail day! My #LitsyFoundFamilySwap is on its way to Puerto Rico, due to be delivered on Friday. @KateReadsYA @Gissy
My #NaturaLitsySpringSwap cards are in the mail. I hope they arrive timely but I wouldn‘t hold my breath. Things seem to be arriving later and later in my world. I did receive my first lovely card from @dabbe today but I also received a Valentines card mailed 2/10 from @catiewithac . Come on USPS do better. @TheBookHippie
1) Work is ramping up (tax season) so that will be most days and I need to make it to the post office.
2) a teacher because I loved school.
3) Road trip north to Victoria BC, east to Glacier National Park, south to Yellowstone, west to home.
4) Need to finish as I want to know what happens but spending time with these characters is 😬

Just started Marion Lane from my #ReadYourKindle list. Hoping it will keep my interest.
Thanks to @CBee for recommending a thriller as a slump buster. Listening to None of this is True while doing other tasks. Although I don‘t really like any of the characters and my spidey sense thinks it‘s going in a direction I‘m going to hate, it is keeping my attention.

My newest wall shelves. I am hoping to change it up with each season.
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
The first 45% of this book was read a few chapters a day but yesterday I couldn‘t put it down. Whether it‘s due to the power of the book or a change in my slumpy status remains to be seen. But the book is powerful. It fleshed out some of France‘s history for me and gave me more understanding of what it means to be Jewish not just the history of the holocaust. On page 462 it talks about how “1925 and 1950 weren‘t so very far apart” and how ⬇️

I get the real TOB emails and decided to see what happened in today‘s round with my morning coffee. I have to say I don‘t know anything about the judge Rufi Thorpe but her breakdown to choosing her favorite of the three was a hoot. And now I‘m off to check out her books. Even if you aren‘t into the TOB I think you‘ll get a kick out of this review. Here‘s the link:

Still only reading a few chapters a day of The Postcard so am not sure how I will do. The tagged book is short, The Batter of Life and Death is the 2nd in a series I‘ve been meaning to go back to, What the Dead Leave Behind is the beginning of a great sounding series and Marion Lane is a holdover from last month.
Hoping my reading mojo comes back soon.
@CBee
I know lots of us have been anticipating today‘s longlist announcement. I‘m quite surprised. Only 3 of these made prediction lists multiple times: Soldier Sailor, The Wren, The Wren and Enter Ghost. I‘ve only read Western Lane. Which have you read?
#TuesdayTunes
I hadn‘t listened to this album in years but decided to last night and it did not disappoint. I loved it then and I love it now. Released 26 years ago it was one of the albums that got me through a rough patch.

#BookspinBingo #February and #March
Still not reading much but have a March plan and bingo board. They are fun to make.
Thanks to everyone who gave me slump advice. I‘m trying them all. 😀
I think the stats show that I‘m really sliding into a slump. I‘ve been trying to ignore it although I‘ve read only a few pages a day over the last week. It‘s been years since this has happened and I‘m not a fan. Send help. 😢
#ReadYourKindle and #Bookspin lists for March. Looking forward to the numbers.
@CBee @TheAromaofBooks
Went a little nuts with BOTM picks for March. The Storm We Made is getting lots of Women Prize buzz and The Great Divide also got a couple of mentions. Murder Road is for July #SundayBuddyRead. The Fox Wife is #blameitonLitsy and Yours Truly was the only free finalist book I haven‘t read or don‘t already own. Looking forward to seeing everyone‘s choices.
#WondrousWednesday
The ocean is the most calming scent for me. It‘s where I go when I‘m stressed or struggling with something.
Roses. My grandma‘s favorite perfume was Tea Rose so I always think of her.
Ponderosa Pines baking in the sun. It means I‘m on vacation.

I watched 10 or so booktube predictions for the 2024 Women‘s Prize over the last few days. Julia is the top predicted book with 9 mentions. I thought I would share the top 16 plus one bonus book. This was probably a mistake on my part because there are so many amazing books being mentioned that I want to read. It will be interesting to see which, if any, of these make the longlist. Which do you think should make the list?

Haven‘t listened to Eva in quite a while but this popped up this weekend reminding me how much I love her voice. Gone too soon. 💔

1) My mother would not let me get my ears pierced so I once came back from an overnight Girl Scout trip with peace sign earrings that looked as if they were pierced. She didn‘t find it funny 😆

A readathon when I need one! Still trying to finish up the #LitsyTOB selections. I‘m almost half through Biography of X and just started Wellness. And I‘m reading a story a day to finish Florida for #AuthoraMonth. Hope to have these read by the 29th and maybe start a couple more.
Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting! Love the choose your own goals motivation! Join us!

I liked this book well enough. Maybe a bit too long, and while I liked most of the characters I didn‘t feel they were fully developed. I did feel seen when Alice described being pestered by coaches to play sports due to her height recalling one of my most cringeworthy moments in high school. And the new sentence I‘m finding in books I hate “getting the answer to a question you didn‘t know you had”. 3.5 🌟

According to my IPad my screen time was up 20%, I‘ve watched a ton of Friends episodes and haven‘t read very much at all. Love, Theoretically was #52Bookclub24 #WomeninStem and just ok for me. I am behind on both buddy reads and decided to DNF #TheBros. Enjoying The Biography of X. And have still only read one of the stories from Florida. 🤞🏼 for a better reading week.
