I added this one to my to-read list the LAST time we were arguing about who has statues & monuments (and now that the topic has rolled back around, I‘m reminded that I wanted to read this book). It came to my attention then learning that the “Father of Modern Gynecology” who has multiple statues and did great things for women‘s health experimented on slaves, without anesthesia More info ⤵️

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Powered_By_Plants Exactly, I understand that he was a product of his time, he made great medical advances, but come on...as a doctor he understood bodily disease enough to know what issue they had white women had, he knew their bodies were the same, but he used them to do things he could not get away with on white women of his day. 🤮 4y
