CrowCAH @Chrissyreadit I agree. I‘ve been reading a couple more for a book club. The one book made her point, but wasn‘t uplifting. Not my cup-of-tea. 4y

ElizaMarie @Chrissyreadit I totally agree. I am not really a typical “memoir“ reader but I did enjoy this one :) I have read a few that I found interesting but again, depends on who it is about. 4y

ElizaMarie Not to be too personal but having a trauma/assault history has really shaped who I am. I strive to assist those who have been faced with sexual assault and domestic violence. I volunteer to take those patients when we get them because (super horrifying but....) some of my colleagues have made comments such as “well she was out late what did she expect“ or “why doesn't she leave“. I feel because of my history I am a better advocate for these pts 4y

An excellent Own Voices insight into living with autism (obviously school is an absolute hellhole anyway but for neurodiverse kids or anyone who's a bit different it can be really crap) and the joys of finding your tribe. There's a lot of very helpful advice for both neurotypical people and people with ASD but, perhaps more importantly, it's really funny.I'm definitely going to check out his stand up. #BigLibraryRead #BLR2020 #autismawarenessday

Have you watched the modern show, featuring an autistic man as a surgeon doctor? If not, you should. The Good Doctor is a great heartwarming show!

ElizaMarie I have heard good things about this show but I haven't seen it. I am not crazy about hospital/medical dramas (I think because I am a nurse it is hard sometimes when they make ridiculous choices) 4y

CrowCAH @ElizaMarie ah yes I do understand, the realism factor. That is a slight issue with the show, but it‘s centered on characters who want to make a difference, so it balances. 4y
