When I started reading this book I wasn‘t sure I was going to like it. It wasn‘t my typical read, however just a few chapters into it I was hooked! I found myself drawn into the lives of all the characters. I wanted to keep reading because I wanted to know what celebrations or heartaches each character was having. I really enjoyed the book! #bnbookclub

Not a perfect book, but a very good one. Tells a fictionalized account of an institutional "school" for boys, an alternative to prison, where boys were beaten and killed, especially in the black houses. Emotional portrayal, but not one that had me sobbing, which is kind of nice. Read this for the #BNbookclub, which I am hosting at my store tonight

Also, this was my E for Care of Magical Creatures in the #NEWTs #magical readathon

Reading this for #bnbookclub.

Yeah_I_Read @Graciouswarriorprincess I almost gave it up but it really got good after the first 180 pages. I‘m glad I stuck with it. What do you think so far? 7mo
Graciouswarriorprincess @Yeah_I_Read It is slow but I am enjoying it. Glad it gets better. 😉 7mo

A captivating story of a truly deep friendship, but one event divides the two women tearing their friendship apart. Young-sook can't forgive or forget what happened in Jan 1949, but Mi-ja tries to make amends, even from afar, for decades. Will Young-sook find it in her heart to finally forgive her friend?

All I have to say is make sure you have a box of tissue, and ice-cream, on hand before finishing this one. #uglycrying #bnbookclub

I wouldn‘t have ever picked this up on my own and at first it was a bit jarring bc I just read The Immortalists which was also about 4 siblings so it took me a while to get into it. But once I did I really enjoyed it. Can‘t wait until next Tuesday to discuss. #bnbookclub

jessinikkip Nice, this is on my TBR list, glad to see its a good one. 9mo

Mehso-so

I am running the #bnbookclub at work and had to read this book for work. It isn‘t normally the type of book I would read on my own as such I am giving it as so-so rating instead of the pan that I want to. The book tackles too much without ever really resolving anything the only well written character is Cory, the only man given really page time in the book. Wolitzer info dumps character backgrounds and it doesn‘t do anything really new/different
