#AboutABook #BasedOnATrueStory

This SK short story is based on Diane Schuler's wrong-way accident on the Taconic Parkway in 2009. I found this story fascinating bc I used to travel the Taconic almost daily (~10 miles north of where the accident occurred). Before the story made huge news, my neighbor told us about the horrific scene as he was stuck in traffic for hours coming home from work. This story was as good a guess as any

Eggs Fascinating 👌🏼👏🏻 4mo

Based on a devastating tornado that killed over 450 people in 1936. It‘s set in the town of Tupelo where I work.

IMO Kate Quinn is the master of weaving historical record into her fictional narratives to create something doubly compelling. This is the first of her‘s I read and it remains my favorite.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I need to get to this one! 4mo
Eggs I think Huntress, for me, was the most suspenseful and unputdownable 😳😱 4mo

Pickpick

This was a good if somewhat sad historical fiction short story. It imagines a possible arc for a real Culper Ring female agent about whom almost nothing is known. It incorporates some lore and the author is very clear in her afterword that the story is built around the known contribution of Agent 355 but is, alas, conjecture in her story. I felt sorrowful at the end, but glad I heard it nonetheless as so many of women‘s stories are lost history.

tpixie Thanks for reminding me about this. I listened to the one of hers with Kate Quinn- Agatha Christie & someone from the rose code 6mo
