Here are a few from my TBR! Such great covers.

I think this tacitly qualifies for the #bodiesofwater category of the #maybookflowers.

#upnext Anyone read this one? I was attracted to it precisely because of its nautical title, and really know nothing about it or the author

bookjam Just finished this. I got confused about the characters but managed to figure it out. Interesting book. The back and forth of years was really different as was character development. 7y

Kraken | China Miville
post image

A random selection of books featuring #bodiesofwater, most of which are fictional, for #MayBookFlowers. Going to say the Kraken and the Mary Celeste count as #mythslegendsofthesea for #pirateslife #whatawaytolive

It's been a few weeks since I made a big deal about Kraken and how you should read it. I'm slipping.

CrowCAH Great choices! 7y
Moray_Reads Kraken was my first China Miéville, haven't looked back since 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Moray_Reads I'm so glad I totally judged Perdido Street Station by its cover years ago. I picked it up when it and King Rat were his only published works. 7y
Moray_Reads @TobeyTheScavengerMonk I read Kraken shortly after I first read Neverwhere which is why I think that had never really been one of my favourites by Gaiman, it was just overwhelmed by Miéville 7y

The Water Is Wide | Pat Conroy

I dated a guy in high school who gave me this book. I never read it. Now that I live in South Carolina, maybe it's time to pick up some Conroy. Is anyone into his books? #bodiesofwater #maybookflowers

BarbaraTheBibliophage OMG - is that Pat Conroy in the picture? How young he is! 7y
Megabooks @BarbaraTheBibliophage I believe so! This is the original cover from 1972! 7y
Skeebies05 I tried to read the Prince of Tides in high school but I bailed. It may have been a bit above me at the time. But ( as an avid reader I shouldn't say this) the movie is damn near perfection to me. 😳 7y

Hoopiefoot I liked this one much more than his other books. It's based on his experiences teaching on a sea island. 7y
krismac I read all his books and loved them! 7y
Megabooks @Skeebies05 See. That's what's so impressive about him, assuming he got it. His writing is hard to fully appreciate in high school. 7y
Megabooks @Hoopiefoot Cool! So it's a memoir? I love those. 7y
Megabooks @krismac Awesome! I'll definitely have to try them. 7y
prowlix I loved The Prince of Tides but thought Beach Music was a choppy mess. But he has beautiful sentences. Even though I thought the plot to Beach Music should have been several separate novels, there were passages I would reread because of the language. I definitely plan to read more of him 7y
Megabooks @prowlix Thanks for the heads up! I was wondering where to start. I'll have to start looking for his books. 7y
LeahBergen My favourite of his is 7y
Coleen_Nieto I love his books! 7y
Dragon I love his books , my favourite 7y
lynneamch Love them all. Also his nonfiction 7y
dorisday His books are beautiful 6y

I find this hard to believe, but these were the only #bodiesofwater I could find on my shelves! I'm sure I could find more on my kindle, though. #maybookflowers

"If the lake could write poetry, this collection would be it." I agree with this beautiful cover blurb description by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson. All five of the Great Lakes are represented within, so it is an easy one for @RealLifeReading 's #bodiesofwater prompt.
