I loved this. I think it lacked some of the wonderful character development of The House in the Cerulean Sea, but it still totally sucked me in. I was crying by the end of this cozy heartwarming book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This one is so perfect for this season. Just have to make sure I don‘t get so cozy I fall asleep!
Picking from a too full shelf of unread books these are my picks for #lmpbc #groupU. Let me know what you would be interested in @Alfrazier21 @Bianca @slategreyskies !
Everything I read about this book before I picked it up was vague and I think that made it so much better. This is amazing and riveting and sometimes horrifying but as good as you‘ve heard so pick it up!
This was so much fun and such an interesting premise. Also a surprise perfect read for groundhogs day as we follow Nora through some of the lives she could be leading if she made different decisions. It had a pretty predictable ending but I am ok with that. Really lovely quick read.
Please ignore the dog hair in the pic 🐶
I‘ve been meaning to read this for awhile but dismissed it as your average YA fairy book. I was so wrong. It may even start out that way but this book is so atmospheric I literally had to turn the lights on once in a while when I was reading before bed. Such a unique premise (that I won‘t go in to because *spoilers*). Can‘t wait to get into the next book.
@booksellerofyourdiscontent look what I just got!!!!! Also the other copy you sent from amazon (let me know if there is still a way to return that and I am happy to drop it in a usps box if you send me the label) thanks so much for the keychains and treats! Going to start this book right now!
This left me with a lot of thoughts. Part of me hated all of the characters, alternating between actively disliking them and just feeling exasperated. That being said I was riveted. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew more Shakespeare, but it was still solid and atmospheric and definitely a read I wild recommend.
This was so good! A bunch of strong woman who can do amazing things, some not boring courtroom drama, and lots of suspense it was right up my alley. This was the last book I finished in 2020 and it was such a nice way to close out the year.
I get the criticism that this was a bit unnecessary (but I think that‘s a true of a lot of sequels) and also dragged a bit at the beginning. But I loved it. The added time constraints this time for the adventure really upped the stakes. They definitely left a story untold in the middle there so I wouldn‘t be surprised if we get that one next.
I spent a good potion of this book really frustrated with the main characters decisions. It always seemed like she knew the right thing to do and then did the opposite. But I loved the story and the very real examination of the trauma of slavery that is totally absent in most YA‘s. I definitely see why this made it to lots of best of 2020 lists. Can‘t wait for the rest of the series!
+16 for #teamrednosedreindeer @StayCurious
Merry Christmas everyone! Thank you so much @Sweetkokoro for this awesome book and chocolate! I can‘t wait to dig into both. #jolabokaflodswap
My updated points for #wintergames2020 is 832 for the week and 1616 total for #teamrednosedreindeer!! @StayCurious
Picture is of a cute Christmas ornament our doggy day care gave us of my dog Casper last Christmas.
This book was wonderful I didn‘t want it to end! Definitely up there as a best book of 2020 for me. @booksellerofyourdiscontent thanks so much for sharing with me, I really enjoyed all your annotations and we agree on a lot which was nice to see. @EliNeedsMoreShelves I‘m going to try and send it your way tomorrow or so since all the shipping delays have me nervous. #lmpbc
+16 for #teamrednosedreindeer @StayCurious
Alix Harrow is quickly becoming a favorite after this and 10000 Doors of January. I don‘t think I liked it as much but it was a close second and an amazing story in its own right. Set in a world where witchcraft is very real but has been outlawed as another way to oppress women, three sisters work together to bring witchcraft back amid the suffragette movement.
+16 for this TBR read. @StayCurious #TeamRedNosedReindeer
I listened to this years ago one Christmas and remember frequently laughing out loud. It did not disappoint the second time!
+26 for this holiday read! @StayCurious #teamrednosedreindeer
My winter games total for week 2 is 784 (458 for the week)! Sorry for the delay @StayCurious #wintergames #teamrednosedreindeer
It‘s rare that the fourth book in a series is better than previous but I really liked this one more that the previous two, almost as much as the first. This series is so enjoyable and I can‘t wait to read on to the last one.
+16 TBR read @StayCurious #teamrednosedreindeer
Here goes for the #ornamenthunt! 1. Ornament that sparkles (white sparkly ball also too big to fit in my hand) 2. Ornament with an animal (the reindeer but also my dog) 3. Ornament that reminds you of a family member (the one with my daughter also counts for special occasion and date on it and frame) 4. North Pole character (reindeer and hilarious elf)5. Looks good enough to eat (donut) 6. Homemade (wood one) 7.character (Charlie brown) 👇
I loved this! I listened to it on audio and the narration was excellent. About so much at once I find it hard to summarize but I absolutely loved the nuanced look at race in a way I don‘t feel like I see often. Would definitely read (or listen) to more from this author!
+16 for a TBR listen @StayCurious #teamrednosedreindeer
@MaleficentBookDragon my #JolabokaflodSwap book and chocolate is on its way!! So excited to be a part of this swap!
@StayCurious I forgot to post my points for #teamrednosedreindeer! Last week was not bad (for me) with 310 points!
Here is a picture of my daughter experiencing her first snow this past weekend - as it was the most festive thing on my camera roll.
I loved this! A retelling of Romeo and Juliette set in 1920‘s Shanghai. The women were badass and awesome and the suspense was constant. The ending though! I can‘t believe I have to wait for the next one.
TBR read for #teamrednosedreindeer +16 @StayCurious
Both a #ChristmasTradition and a holiday movie for #teamrednosedreindeer. We always watch the Charlie Brown holiday movies, with the Christmas one my favorite. It was extra special to get to watch with my 2 year old daughter this year. @StayCurious
I read this slowly a half an hour a night for a week or so but finally finished it last night. A Nigerian Harry Potter but they have to go to normal school too! Loved the world building and the magic, I got the next one from the library so will be reading that soon!
+16 for a TBR read @StayCurious #teamrednosedreindeer #wintergames2020
How was this book so good. I felt almost constant suspense but it was also a sort of nice meandering tale. Really loved it, this is exactly the kind of thing I like to sink into in the winter.
+16 points for a TBR read for #teamrednosedreindeer #wintergames2020 @StayCurious
Yay! Look what I just got in the mail! @booksellerofyourdiscontent
@EliNeedsMoreShelves did mine get to you yet?
#lmpbc #groupp
Finished this book just in time for book club today as well as my first read for #teamrednosedreindeer! I was not as into this as I was hoping I would be - I honestly think it would have been better as a short story. #wintergames2020
+26 points for this Christmas read! @StayCurious
1. Current read is the tagged, as well as too many other things all at the same time.
2. My favorite read this month was definitely 10,000 Doors of January, which was also my favorite read of 2020
3. I started and am almost finished with Mr. Dickens and his Carol and my daughter and I watched a Charlie Brown Christmas this morning!
#weekendreads @rachelsbrittain
Dickens couldn‘t sleep, didn‘t want to. The end was too near, close enough to touch.
Not great when you get excited because a line in a book reminds you it‘s almost over. Not loving this one but forcing myself to finish it for book club.
I picked this up because I wanted to get out of a slump (mostly a hangover from how much I loved 10 thousand doors of January) but I ended up really liking it. The romance was understated in that Austen way while still being firmly modern. The villains were evil and got their comeuppance. Altogether a really nice fluffy retelling with some serious subject matters thrown in.
Here is my December TBR for #bookspinbingo and #wintergames. Hopefully I can get more read next month then I did this one! #rednosedreindeer +25 points!
@TheAromaofBooks @StayCurious
In a slump so adding yet another book to my currently reading stack to try and get over it. Also featured is my huge golden doodle, Casper.
I absolutely loved this. I think this is definitely my best read of the year. It‘s beautiful but engaging and about so many things. I feel like if I talk about it I‘ll ruin it for someone so just do yourself a favor and read it!
Really excited to dig into this atmospheric read! I would have kept it for next month for points for #readnosedreindeer but it‘s my book club book for this month so have to get it read!
I found this book slightly bonkers and more graphic then I thought it would be at times. But I loved a dystopian where the end of the world event just happened rather than so long ago that no one remembers anything. It was nice to learn along with the main character what was going on. Also it felt like the YA angst was at a minimum, and the world building just starting so I‘ll definitely read the rest of the series.
I thought going in I wouldn‘t like this much as much as the first two as they main couple were not together for most of it, but it was delightful. I love this comedy of manners with supernatural creatures and a super literal dry heroine.
Loved this! I found it a little hard to get into at first as the world building is a little confusing and your plopped right in. But once I got into it I loved it. Absolutely loved the main characters snark and attitude and can‘t wait for the next one. Perfect for our first #lmpbc. @EliNeedsMoreShelves this should be coming your way next week!
I decided that Orion needed to die after the second time he saved my life. #FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl
I am so glad I finally listened to this audiobook. It was honestly riveting. I started it a month ago and then took a break around the election as it was too much. I am so glad I got to listen to the heartbreaking ending when Trump wins in light of the recent results 😀.
If your on the fence I would say get the audiobook. You will laugh out loud and be moved to tears.
I have to admit at first I was not as into this one and I was struggling a little bit. Around 60% through though I loved it as much as the first. I can‘t wait for the next one! What a cliffhanger!
I‘ve been really sick of multiple POV‘s recently, but this was so beautiful. More of a relay race with the next character picking up the story rather than the confusing jerking back and forth that‘s so common. This book really gripped me and just kept building and getting more intense. If your on the fence about this one just do it, I can‘t believe how long I had it sitting on my shelf.
“Isma was going to miss her flight.”
Really enjoying this sweeping book about siblings. #FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl
I just couldn‘t get into this. It totally may not have been the book‘s fault (I‘m a little distracted right now 😬) but the characters just didn‘t draw me in and I didn‘t really care about them. This was my #bookspin for this month so extra bummed I didn‘t finish! @TheAromaofBooks does it still count for bingo?
As lovely as the first one really glad I found this series for some light hearted fun. Austen meets ware wolves in this hilarious comedy of manners.
That ending though! Can‘t wait for the next book but so much to read this month it may have to wait till December 😢. Also I can check off my first box on my #bookspinbingo!
Instead of working I made this #bookspinbingo card for the upcoming month! @TheAromaofBooks
Excited to start this read this weekend! Not in little part because of this gorgeous cover 😍🥰
So I would be lying if I didn‘t seriously think about bailing on this a couple of times. A retelling of beauty and the beast, definitely not my favorite (looking at you ACOTAR). However, I did get into it by the end and will most likely read the rest of the series. I like that it doesn‘t really focus much on the love triangle and in fact is realistic that she would probably not fall in love with anyone under the circumstances.
Trying my first #bookspin! Interested to see how faithful I am to what I think I want to read now! @TheAromaofBooks
