Regency England, August 1812. Sebastian's plans to escape the heat of London for a honeymoon are shattered when the murdered body of Hero's good friend, Gabrielle Tennyson, is discovered drifting in a battered boat at the site of a long-vanished castle known as Camlet Moat.

EadieB A beautiful young antiquarian, Miss Tennyson had recently provoked an uproar with her controversial identification of the island as the location of Camelot. Missing and presumed also dead are Gabrielle's two young cousins, nine-year-old George and three-year-old Alfred. 1y
EadieB This is the 7th book of the Sebastian St Cyr mystery series. I read this wits a group on LibraryThing. This book was full of characters and likely suspects. It was so secretive that I did not guess the killer until it was revealed at the end of the book. 1y
EadieB The plot was terrific but the real reason for the murder was not revealed until the very end but even though we were not able to tell who the killer was and the reason for the murder, I still gave her 5 stars as the book was that good. So if you love book with hidden secrets than you would love this book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and I hope that Sebastian and Hero share secrets with each other. 1y

What the Devil Knows | C.S. Harris

#WhatTheDevilKnows #CSHarris

Sebastian St. Cyr thought a notorious killer had been brought to justice until a shocking series of gruesome new murders, which are similar to the Ratcliffe Highway murders of three years before, stuns the city. Was the wrong man arrested for the murders? Bow Street magistrate Sir Henry Lovejoy turns to his friend Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, for assistance.

EadieB It was interesting to find out that the circumstances of these murders were a true story. The author is also coming close to giving us more information about Sebastian's mother. As always, C.S. Harris does excellent research and we learn a bit more about British history. Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for a free copy for an honest review. 3y
Freespirit He writes great books. I haven‘t read this 3y

Freespirit Wow..never assume hey! 3y
EadieB @Freespirit Hard to tell when they use initials as their first name. 3y
rwmg @Freespirit @EadieB Unless I know otherwise I tend to assume an author with initials rather than a first name is a woman writing in a more traditionally male genre 3y
MamaGina One of my favorite all time series! Definitely recommend reading in order🤓 3y
EadieB @MamaGina Yes should be read in order 3y

Where Shadows Dance | C S Harris

Regency London: July 1812. How do you set about solving a murder no one can reveal has been committed? — That's the challenge confronting C.S. Harris's aristocratic soldier-turned-sleuth Sebastian St. Cyr when his friend, surgeon and "anatomist" Paul Gibson, illegally buys the cadaver of a young man. 6th book in the series. One of my favorite series. C.S. Harris‘ stories are fast-moving. Recommend to those who love history with political intrigue.

Andrew65 Great review. This one certainly had a lot of political intrigue! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes it was a great group read. Checked my records and found out the Blackhouse series by Peter May was our first Shelfari group read with our current group in Nov/Dec 2014. The next series we read was Dr. David Hunter by Simon Beckett. Jonetta started the group reads but she left Shelfari to go to Goodreads. Then you took over on Shelfari in 2014. 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Miss Jonetta! How quickly time flies! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes! Those were the days with Jonetta! She is still going strong on Goodreads! 4y

1814 London 15th book in series but can be read as standalone. Sebastian St Cyr & his wife, Hero, are asked to solve the murder of Nicholas Hayes who was accused of murdering a French woman 15 years earlier. I learned lots of well-researched history about the East India Co and their opium smuggling & Napoleon‘s defeat. Unique characters & plot make for a book that held my attention all the way through. Thanks NetGalley and publisher. Recommended.

robinb Are you a fan of the series? It's one of my favorites! 💜 4y
EadieB @robinb Yes, we do group reads on LibraryThing. We have read 4 or 5 of them. Great series! 4y

EadieB @robinb Me too! I was a bit skeptical to read the 15th book but it didn't seem to matter. 4y
robinb @EadieB No, and I‘m amazed that she still keeps it fresh and interesting. 👍 4y

Murder of eight prostitutes at a London house of refuge provides Sebastian St. Cyr with yet another puzzle. Hero, the daughter of Lord Jarvis, asks St. Cyr's help in tracking down those responsible. Hero finds no shortage of suspects. Action keeps the plot moving & makes for a fast-paced read. Need to read the next book to find out more about the relationship of Hero and Sebastian. I would recommend to those who love historical mystery.

3rd book of Sebastian St. Cyr series. C.S. Harris is an excellent writer and had me hooked from beginning to end. Very atmospheric of dark underside Regency London. Plot is flawlessly constructed with lots of twists and turns. Characters are well-drawn. Looking forward to the next book. I recommend this series to those who like historical fiction, romance, mystery. You should read in order and start with the first book, What Angels Fear.

Crazeedi Soooooo, I'm so looking forward to reading this series 6y

Starting to read this for a group read with @Andrew65 on LT. It‘s the 3rd book in the series. This series is set in 1811 in Regency England. They feature aristocratic ex-spy Sebastian St. Cyr who is an excellent character to follow. Lots of political intrigue with romance and mystery. Book 1 is What Angels Fear and is a great start to the series.

EadieB @Andrew65 Give me the name of your library and address and I‘ll send my books to them because my library has copies I can borrow. 6y
Andrew65 @EadieB 😂😂😂 Always amazes me the books our library sells off very cheaply when you think they have plenty of loans in them yet! (edited) 6y
EadieB @Andrew65 I guess they need the money to buy new ones. 6y

I like how a few other clever Littens showcased their #bookcrush for the challenge #SwingMyWay... so here's one of my favorite crushes.
Sebastian St Cyr, gentleman sleuth and champion of the underdogs. If you enjoy historical mysteries, I do recommend the series.

Jess_Read_This @Texreader 😄💕📚💕Let me know what you think of the series! 7y
DGRachel I love this series, but that last book was rough on the emotions. 7y
Jess_Read_This @DGRachel I am in complete agreement. Kirkus reviews called it "bleak" and I was surprised bc that's not how Harris writes, in my opinion. After reading the last one, I'd call it her darkest one yet. She really sets us up for some dark times ahead with Jarvis. I definitely went through all sorts of emotions reading it. 7y
