I have finished these three books so far since the beginning of the #awesomeapril #readathon. I‘m so proud of myself. I have thoroughly enjoyed these three audiobooks, and I really like the stained glass style of the three covers. The cover art for this series is absolutely brilliant.

Andrew65 Great, this post is making me want to read these. 👏👏👏 2y
GingerAntics @Andrew65 this series is pretty good. I like her Gareth and Gwen series better, but this one is growing on me. 2y
Andrew65 @GingerAntics Thanks for that information, adding them to my list. 2y

I forgot so much of this book. I‘m not sure why. Possibly because I inhaled it the first time through. I love these books even more as audiobooks. I‘m happy to now know the correct pronunciation of teulu, too.

@Texreader this word appears much more in the Gareth and Gwen series, but either way, I‘ve been reading this word ALL wrong. For some reason I was reading this as something along the lines of too-loo. It‘s actually tay-loo. Now that I‘m looking at it again, that makes sense, but SO wrong. This audiobook is fun in that you get to hear the welsh pronunciation of Arthur. It almost sounds like it ends with a D thanks to the rolled R.

The last audiobook was so good, I immediately began this one last night. I actually managed to stay awake in a more normal schedule, staying up to listen to Tom Mumford tell this story brilliantly until 2 am.

I greatly enjoyed the continuation of this series. I absolutely love Rhys. It‘s about bloody time Rhys and Catrin got married (I actually kind of expected it to happen between the two books, but they‘re both hard headed so it took a bit longer). I liked that it explored how the English entirely coopted the Arthur legends, making them into something entirely different. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics I also enjoyed the cross reference to the Gareth and Gwen series, when it is mentioned that the bards are singing of Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd‘s betrayal and treachery. (I‘m still not over The Lost Brother) 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 (edited) 3y
GingerAntics I think my favourite part of the book (outside of the King Arthur theme) was finding out the secret I knew Rhys was keeping through the whole first book and at least half of this second book. It‘s such a great plot line and the revelation made me love and respect Rhys all the more. I‘m torn among Rhys, Gareth, and Cade as my favourite Sarah Woodbury character. It may be a three-way tie. #SarahWoodbury #Chevalier #WelshGuardSeries 3y

CADWALADR IS A BLOODY WEE GIT!!!
Of course, she‘s referring to the treacherous Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd who is a pain in everyone‘s back side in the Gareth and Gwen series, most especially after he accidentally kills his nephew thinking he‘s his father (Cadwaladr‘s older brother and King). I‘m slightly pleased that bards are singing of his treachery!!!

GingerAntics @Texreader I approve, and I want to hear the songs!!! I‘m still not over what he did to Rhun. 😢😢😢 3y

Well, it‘s about bloody time these two got their crap together and realised they‘ve loved each other since they were kids.

I think it‘s fair to say this is true of all conquering peoples, but English have certainly been egregious about this with the Celtic peoples. First Wales, then Ireland, then Scotland. They were all “lesser” people, often referred to as “barbarians” or similar. All three languages were very nearly eradicated. I‘m not going to lie, I take that personally.

Wow, she pretty much spelled it out right there. Let the cultural appropriation games begin!!! Eddie is trying to portray himself to the Welsh he has just conquered as Arthur returned (as legend says he will). Never mind the fact that he‘s totally botching it and anglicising it.
