The Pisces: A Novel | Melissa Broder

Panpan

This is the weekend of not-so-great print books. (Audio are 👍🏻👍🏻) Either her weirdness works for you or doesn‘t, but at least I have my #ConstellationInTitle #pop22 out of the way!

Lucy is more addicted to love (and sex) than Robert Palmer. She‘s immature for 38, too. After a couple of terrible Tinder dates, she meets a mysterious man by the ocean…but he‘s not what he seems…mythology and magical realism abound.

Cortg Bummer for not great reading weekend but the flowers are lovely, you checked a box off the challenge and yay for good audiobooks! Wishing you good reading vibes this week! 😘 2y
TNbookworm Such pretty iris💜 2y
Cinfhen Hahaha 🤣 Robert Palmer 🙌🏻🤣🤣🤣this author REALLY pushes the boundaries on weird shit…I tried this book but bailed early on/ I do love the cover, though 2y

Megabooks @Cortg thanks!! You, too. I hope you‘re getting in some reading time this weekend! 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I had to, Cindy! Those red lipsticked girls!! 😆 she does push boundaries, and I definitely preferred her second novel. 2y
squirrelbrain I liked Milk Fed too, but have heard this one is a bit odd…. Maybe not for me! 2y
staci.reads Beautiful irises! 2y
KarenUK Great use of prompt even if book is not great! 😂 2y
Megabooks @squirrelbrain it is DEFINITELY odd! 2y
Megabooks @staci.reads thank you! 💜 2y
Megabooks @KarenUK thanks! I wish it had been better. 2y
KathyWheeler Sometimes the more I think about a book, the more I like it. Not so with this one. The more I think about it, the less I like it. I don‘t mind odd, but this was just not good odd. Lucy‘s immaturity was beyond ridiculous. 2y
Megabooks @KathyWheeler how was she 38?!? She acted 20! I had it for a low so-so when I initially read it, but it sank for me as well. 2y
sarahbarnes I‘d been wondering about this one, so appreciate your thoughts on it. 2y
Megabooks @sarahbarnes thanks! I think it‘s a love it or hate it with not much in between. Interested in your thoughts if you read it. 2y
youneverarrived I‘m with you @KathyWheeler the more I think about it the more I don‘t like it. I‘m sure I panned it too Meg, if not I should have 😆 2y
Ruthiella I really liked this one! I think you are right, either the weirdness of it works for the reader or it doesn‘t. I agree that Lucy is a bad friend/sister/student etc. I wouldn‘t want to know her! 2y
KathyWheeler @Megabooks I remember thinking that I knew teenagers with more emotional maturity than her when I read it. I have it a so-so but I think that was because I liked the ending. 2y
Megabooks @youneverarrived lol! I remember you warning me.. 🤨😂 2y
Megabooks @Ruthiella no. She‘s one of the worst behaved characters I‘ve read recently. Glad you enjoyed it, though. 2y
Megabooks @KathyWheeler 🙌🏻🙌🏻 2y

Pickpick

Thanks to @Lindy for putting this book on my #ReadersRadar #SetInCanada told through multiple POVs, we learn about Astra a spirited woman born on a commune. Each chapter shares a glimpse of Astra‘s development from an independent 6yr old to eventually an impassioned 60 year old. #PoP22 #ConstellationInTitle

Megabooks I‘ve apparently stacked this already! 3y
Cortg Ooh, communes are always so intriguing! 3y
Lindy Glad to hear you enjoyed it! 3y
