There is a legend in Native America (from different tribes across the two continents of the Americas). It is a prophecy.

I first encountered the Peru version.

I will shorten & summarize the legend...the full version should be available online. Maybe search for, “Peru prophecy of the Eagle and Condor.“

👇

AnnCrystal Basically, the Eagle represents foresight and technology (summarizing) while the Condor represents the old ways and living peacefully with the natural world (summarizing).

There are two groups of people who walk the world, people of the Eagle, and people of the Condor.

👇
3d
AnnCrystal The people of the Eagle have successfully ruled over the world and created a future that is so completely removed from nature that both Earth and the people of the Condor have suffered greatly.

👇
3d
AnnCrystal The legend says that there will be a day when the people of the Eagle realize what they have done...they have led us into a future that could destroy everything (e.g. end of the world).

Thankfully, while they may have suffered, the people of the Condor have kept the Sacred old ways safe and alive with each new generation.

AnnCrystal The legend tells us that the people of the Condor and the people of the Eagle must learn to work together to save Earth and themselves from total destruction.

👇

AnnCrystal There is another version of this legend that adds that there will be those born across the generations who will be of both the Condor and the Eagle, who will help unite people from both sides and lead us into a better future.

AnnCrystal This is the legend I commented that I would post about 😎 @dabbe . (edited) 3d
dabbe Love it! It reminds me of the European white man coming to the Americas to “conquer“ the native Americans--the ones who lived in harmony with the world--and the land itself. And look where it's gotten us. Thanks for sharing. 🧡🍁🤎 2d
AnnCrystal @dabbe in just a few hundred years too 😢🥺...glad you enjoyed reading this legend 😘👍💝. 2d

Caught the first episode to this new history series yesterday evening...

I am American & American Indigenous, yet I also have Indigenous Mexican & Spanish mixed into my blood.

This hit home 🧐🥺. There were some new info. I learned about too. Always learning...

Even while I am very familiar with the true history of my ancestral world, this was still difficult...the genocide that swept across my ancestral homelands 😢...

👇

AnnCrystal It was fascinating to watch about the ancient cities and tribes.

I once came across a call for stories that were based in my ancestors ancient world...

It was in that moment that I realized that I could not achieve this without extensive research...yet, in that moment I could probably write a quick short story based in the ancient Viking, Druid, or Greek etc. world\'s 😳🥺🤔.

That was only a few years ago. Since I have become

Thank you @debinhawaii for creating this fun play-card.

1- It's a long weekend 🥳📚.

2- Been neglecting the garden. My mom and I were able to spend two days this week tackling the more difficult of the to-dos 🌱💝🌞💝. Nice.

3- The tagged book has just rekindled my love for dragons 🐲💝.

4- My state (California) has finally closed the plastic bag loophole 💕🐢🐟🐠🐡🦈💝.

👇

5- learned today, that if my state governor (California Gov. Gavin Newsom) signs it into law, six artificial dyes would soon be banned from use in public school foods 🙏.

Hi, this post is not meant to be offensive to any Republicans or Men 😉.

August 26 is Women's Equality Day

While I don't consider myself a feminist, I guess that I kinda am...

When I was a kid, I told myself that as soon as I was able to vote, I would register under the Green Party.

When that time came, I realized three facts.

1- My county (Los Angeles) hadn't had a female mayor (at the time). Karen Bass officially took office in 2022. 👇

AnnCrystal 2- My state of California has never had a female governor.

3- My USA never had a female president.

I therefore vowed, “I will not register to vote until I can vote for a female for president (who had a promising chance at winning).

And I kept that promise to myself until Hillary Rodham Clinton ran for president. I registered under, No Party Preference. 👇

AnnCrystal It was like a slap in the face when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and the Electoral College went against the people.

I continued to vote since then (for men and women). Now that V.P. Kamala Harris is running, here's hoping she Makes America Proud Again 🇺🇲🦅🇺🇸.

Meant to post about this in June...Yikes! It's already almost August.

Just wanted to post about this 100 year anniversary.

The Indigenous people in the U.S.A. were not considered American citizens until June 1924.

The “Americas“ (as in both continents) had a beautiful landscape, occupied by numerous tribes for millennia.👇

AnnCrystal A few history notes:

There was an immense population.

There was Trade.

Stargazers (there were some Indigenous clans who lived, documented, and built by the stars and seasons before Egypt, Stonehenge, etc.).

And there was even Chaco, where tribal people from different clans (from all over the Americas) are said to have traveled and gathered in conference.

Etc.👇

AnnCrystal Yet, in the U.S.A. the Indigenous were not citizens until 1924. It wouldn't be until 1954 when Indigenous would be allowed to vote in all states. And not until 1978 when Indigenous would legally be allowed to practice traditional cultural spirituality & religion.

In the U.S. 100 hundred years ago my ancestors were recognized as citizens of their own land. A land we have loved for thousands of years, & continue to want the best for🇺🇲🦅🇺🇸💝.

julesG And a massage behind the ears. I'm totally basing this assumption on my tiny lioness #GhostCat (Siamese-Abysinian-mix), who likes to lounge like the jaguar and loves scritches behind the ears. 4mo

Nearly every country seems to have troubled times and difficult histories. The key is to focus on the Good, embrace the Beauty, & acknowledge the special Uniqueness that makes you proud of your homeland.

My ancestors survived the making of America...difficult histories and troubled times aside, I will always be proud to be an American.

To all Littens here on Litsy who call U.S.A. their home, have a Peaceful and Meaningful July 4th.

Addressing the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples Crisis, Locally and Beyond.

“awareness for the disproportionate violence Indigenous women face -- which in certain communities is 10 times more than the national average. California has the sixth highest death rate“

Saw this on the news today, needed to share.
