Another journey with the Kavanaghs and extended family: outside of Mitford, Fr Kavanagh‘s adopted son Dooley begins his career and personal life at Meadowgate Farm and veterinary clinic.

Eggs @AmyG thanks for asking ❣️ Monday and Tuesday were the worst-no power or water. Tues afternoon went to my daughter‘s home where there was heat but no internet. Back home yesterday🥳 3y

Mitford books are like chicken-fried steak and mashed potatoes: comfort food. 😁

Christinak Years ago my mother in law gave me the Mitford cookbook - I finally made Esther‘s orange marmalade cake for Easter. It was divine! 5y
EastWind76 @Christinak it sounds so good! I would love to try it, but not sure I want to actually make it! 😂 5y

Jan Karon‘s writing is comfort food for me. The Mitford books are gentle and wise and always make me want to be more attentive and intentionally loving to those around me. They make me long for small-town life and the mountains.

I started reading this series many years ago and I believe this last book has been my favorite! The last two I have listened to on Audible, which was a very good experience. Sometimes ‘hearing‘ a book makes all the difference in the world. Father Tim and the small town of Mitford seem like family to me now. Jan Karon draws you in and latches on with this series.

Every sarcastic bone in my body wants to snark about these books where all problems are solved by getting a dog or joining the Episcopal Church. I can't though. The people and the calm way they go about life is just so soothing to my soul. I'll keep reading these as long as they keep getting written.
