Playing catch up again for #SizzlinSummerBooks...
#Hated & #ReadThisNow
Can you guess which one is which?

@Tiffy_Reads

JaclynW Read this now = Glass Castle?? 7y
EllieDottie This is fun! Hmm this is just a random guess but I'm going to say that you hated the Cassandra Clare! (edited) 7y
EchoLogical @JaclynW @EllieDottie Spot on! I hate Cassandra Clare's books so much and I figured it's a good time to read The Glass Castle since the movie's coming out soon. 7y

Blech. Yuck. Preachy. Pretentious. Pointless. #hated #sizzlinsummerbooks

Caroline2 Totally agree!! I could not get on with this book at all! I bailed then watched the film and it's all kind of a dream and didn't really happen any way?! 🙄 7y
TrishB @Caroline2 didn't like either! Didn't bother with film! 7y
monkeygirlsmama Had this on my bookshelf for awhile before we moved. Don't know if I kept my copy or not, but I know I never got around to reading it. Now, either way, I'm not feeling so bad about it never making it's way to my "currently reading" stack. 7y

Soubhiville Yep I'm with you. 7y
GuiltyFeat Wow. What a shame. Life of Pi, in my opinion is one of the few truly great novels of the past two decades. It will survive us all. A tremendous survivor's tale like Life is Beautiful with all the storytelling guile of the greatest yarnspinners ever. 7y
GuiltyFeat @Caroline2 Not a dream, but a reframing borne of survivor's guilt. 7y
CoffeeK8 Totally agree, then I forgot I hated it and watched the film, then hated it all over again. 7y
CouronneDhiver I wasn't terribly impressed with this one either. 7y
tournevis I agree that it feels pretentious, especially in original English. Martel is a native French speaker and it shows in his style. He's also a pretentious git IMO. Anyway, I never finished either Fr or En versions, but I can tell you with certainty, the tone is better in Fr. Martel had his parents do the translation and they made it better. For sure. 7y
Jas16 I hated this one too 7y
OrangeMooseReads I wasn't a big fan of this one either. 7y
Jinjer Omgggggg I loved the movie & book SO much!!!! 😳 7y
Jinjer @GuiltyFeat yaaaaassssss! I'm totally with you on this book! 7y
GAustin I'm on the other side of this. One of my favorites. So it goes... 7y
Mindyrecycles @Jinjer and @GuiltyFeat and @GAustin -- Yes, I know many people love the book. I'm just not one of them! I do sympathize...some of my beloved titles were named on others' #hated tag. Like a knife to the heart! (edited) 7y
GAustin 😬 7y
Jinjer @Mindyrecycles That's ok. I understand.😢😊 7y

DrSabrinaMoldenReads I HATED "The Lovely Bones", too! 7y
lesliemarie I think Eat Pray Love is terrible! 7y
Mindyrecycles Bailed on Eat Pray Love-- ick! Lovely Bones was also disappointing after all the praise it got but I didn't hate it. 7y

Texreader Just recently added it to my tbr list but more than willing to take it off. Why did you hate it? @Joyfulmimi 7y
DrSabrinaMoldenReads At the beginning of the book, you know she is dead and thats about all you know at the end of the book. I kept reading until the end, waiting and wanting to determine the point of the book. Thats my opinion, though @Texreader 7y
Texreader @Joyfulmimi Thanks. That's enough info to tell me I'd be disappointed 7y
mrp27 @Texreader @Joyfulmimi I completely agree. Plus, the last few chapters earned a few eye rolls. 7y
Texreader @mrp27 @Joyfulmimi Done! It's off my tbr list! Thanks for saving me that pain! 7y

I'm not doing #sizzlingsummerbooks but I have to participate here. #Hate compells me. I #hated the tagged book so much, I have no words. For the better part of the last 30 years, I kept a copy of it, just so I could see it on my shelf and hate it more. It is, by far, the most stupid, sexist, idiotic, bad historical novel I have ever read. And I've read my share. And worse: it's super popular! Argh!

Just sayin'.

Gailthurber Did you read it all? 7y
tournevis @Gailthurber Oh yeah! Two deep readings with annotations, followed by an essay. Yes, it was for school. I got an A+. 7y

As others have said, #hated is a strong word but these are 3 books that fit the bill for me. The Silent Wife, I feel like, tried too hard to be Gone Girl. Don't even get me started on Tucker Max. I'm not even sure what I was thinking on that one. Well Enough Alone had less to do with hypochondriac and more to do with random tangents. It was behind frustrating. #sizzlinsummerbooks

Allkat Funny I just read Silent Wife. I really liked that one. You‘re right, not Gone Girl good but it kept me turning pages as things started unraveling for that couple. Just started I hope they serve beer.... Hoping for some laughs. 🤭 6y

I really hate very few books but I wanted to pick one I haven't posted on before! I really didn't like this book, I found the plot laborious and the characters flat. I only finished it because it was the only book I had with me on a long plane ride! But the cover is pretty cool right?! #hated #sizzlinsummerbooks
