A dizzying ride through the mind of Patricia Highsmith, the author of Strangers On A Train. Or was it? A blend of fact and fiction, it‘s difficult to know which are the facts and which fiction, so in that the author has succeeded. Not my favourite book this month but still intriguing. #Pop19 #NovelBasedOnATrueStory #ReadingWomensChallenge #HistoricalFictionBook

Mehso-so

Fictionalized story about life of a Friedrich von Hardenberg - Novalis. He was German poet and philosopher from Early Romanticism era. Focus of this story is on his student time when he falls in love with the 12 year old Sophie. What I liked in the book is vivid portrait of life and customs of the German nobility (opening scene with the laundry day is amusing and beautiful), but I didn‘t like third person narration. Between so-so and pick. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I just love really dense historical novels set in London. I love hearing all the details of the city and looking up locations on a map and researching anything that pricks my ear. Love love love. This book is all of that, and the narration is gorgeous. The plot isn't really the point here.
