Welcome to Litsy!

Several contemporary (2002) poets translating Horace's Odes freely. All must have some knowledge of Latin. All were born from ~1920 to ~1965. So a bunch of older classically inclined poets. Each translation is a combination of Horace's and the poet's meanings. Overall it leaves an interesting impression, and I enjoyed that. I‘ve been working through this since Jan 13, a little bit each morning.

Rather rambling and there were bits that didn't really click for me. The author is a year older than me and I was surprised how many parallels there were between us despite his rather grander background.

My ex-boyfriend gave me this Egyptian Goddess/God stamping set which had a turquoise ink pad that I never opened for over a decade. I opened it today for the first time to stamp some stationary and the ink pad disintegrated when I pressed the stamp to it. Ha! Oh well...still cool. I'll get another ink pad for it. #Bast #Horace #Ra
