Excuse me! How rude! 🤨

I had no idea that this book is firmly set in #Cincinnati with references to the #HydePark neighborhood, #MtAdams and #ChristHospital in the first few pages. #ohio #cincylittens #ohiolittens

iamChandra Good Escape 😊😀😁 6y
Karkar I can say with confidence that this is no longer true. Having just moved from Kansas to Cincinnati three years ago. Kansas is way behind Cincinnati. 😉 6y

Fellow Littens! I need your help. If you are located in the Cincinnati area, can you provide suggestions on locations to live? Thank you!!! #moving #cincinnati #ohio

Jess7 I live in this area! Where are you looking at specifically? Do you have any questions about particular areas of #Cincinnati? Is it just you or are you married, kids, etc? #Ohio #Cincy #Cinci #Nky #Kentucky #KY #OH. - there are several of us in here - I‘ll tag others for you too 6y
Smartypants @Jess7 it is just me, single and mom of an 18 year old, he's homeschooled and on the autism spectrum. I'll be working downtown. Northside, Oakley, Norwood, Clifton have been recommended to me but would love to get other ideas. I'll be renting for the first year or two I'm there until I get a better feel for where I want to be permanently. All help is appreciated! 6y

Jess7 #Oakley or #HydePark are nice areas, but likely expensive. Parts of #Norwood and #Clifton are good. You might also consider the Kentucky side too: #Covington (the historical district - is nice, and very walkable). Parts of #Newport too. If you‘re renting these areas might be worth considering bc you could be really close to downtown (5-8 minutes) but the rent might be less. Definitely less than downtown. 6y
Smartypants @jess7 this is super helpful! I'm also looking for a diverse area and access to public transportation for my son. He is high-functioning so hoping this move allows him to develop more independent living skills. 6y
Jess7 The NKY Tank bus system and the shuttle are very good. Both stop downtown and in Newport. The Tank has a lot of convenient stops and includes areas with park and rides that are very close to downtown. The bus ride from Newport to downtown is only 10 minutes with stops so it sometimes makes more sense that paying for downtown parking. The metro bus services downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods. I haven‘t ridden it but I‘m sure it‘s fine. (edited) 6y
Smartypants @Jess7 you are amazing! This information is so helpful. I hadn't considered NKY because I didn't know if the public transportation is sufficient. I'm so excited to be coming to Ohio! 6y
Jess7 You‘re welcome. Check out the Tank‘s website. If you move to the Newport area you would probably be taking the 16 and 25, or the 20. You can check out their website to figure out the route. The bus drivers are very friendly and if you ever needed help figuring out which route to take google is pretty good at showing you which routes or I would be happy to help. 6y
Karkar I also live in NKY and commute into downtown Cincinnati...you will find housing in NKY is cheaper and you get more house. 6y
Chelleo Thanks for the tag @Jess7 I'm not that familiar with NKY but agree it's definitely worth looking into. Pleasant Ridge, Golf Manor, Wyoming, White Oak, College Hill, Silverton and Finnytown are also nice and within the 275 loop. Check for RITA taxes because they can get pretty high depending on the municipality. (edited) 6y
Smartypants @Chelleo thank you for sharing! I have a friend in Finneytown and another in Norwood so your suggestions are a great add! @Jess7 thank you for saving me hours of research! I'd love to have a diverse area, walkable also to a coffeshop or restaurant as well. It seems like all of your suggestions allow for that too! @Karkar perhaps once I get settled we can do lunch! I'm excited about all these #littens in the area! 6y
Chelleo When will you relocate? A few folks are meeting up next weekend for Books By The Banks (which I'll miss 😢). But maybe we can plan another get together shortly after you relocate. 6y
Smartypants @Chelleo I'm flying in this week for my final interview and I should know shortly after. If I'm made an offer, I'll likely be back next weekend to house hunt etc. If all goes well, I'll be an Ohioan again by Thanksgiving. I'd love to meet up with you! 6y
stacybmartin I don‘t have much info about living downtown or in the Covington/Newport area - I live near the airport in Boone County, about a 15 minute drive from downtown. But, KY is definitely cheaper than downtown. Welcome to Cincy though @Smartypants! 6y
SilversReviews I hope your final interview goes well. Best of luck finding a place to live. I live in Pittsburgh so I can‘t be of any help. :) 6y
MarriedtoMrT I live deep West Side in conservative suburban territory. We‘re here because housing is more affordable and the public schools are great. It is not super public transit accessible nor a walking community. I would second (third?) Northside. I think Oakley and Norwood would suit, too. Also maybe look at Fairfax on the East side of town and possibly Madisonville/Madison Place. Good luck with your interview! 6y
Pamwurtzler Most of of what I would recommend has already been mentioned - Northside, Clifton, Oakley. Public transit (bus) is good in Cincinnati. Good luck with your interview & welcome!! 6y

This is exactly how you'll feel after finishing Samantha Schweblin's FEVER DREAM, translated from the Spanish by Megan McDowell. This short novel delights and disturbs. You'll wonder if your nightmares are even worth mentioning anymore.
