An absolutely brilliant book & one that‘s well worth a reread. The author is a doctor herself so portrays the medical parts of the story & how doctors think with ease, but it‘s her look into the abhorrent mind of a serial killer that elevates this book above a lot of its contemporaries. And the police that populate her story are also written well. This is the reason she‘s one of my auto-buy authors along with Karin Slaughter & Elizabeth George.

After a few bad days, I‘m back reading. The last book led me to try the Rizzoli & Isles books again. This 1st book only has Jane Rizzoli, Maura Isles doesn‘t make an appearance till the 2nd book The Apprentice. Homicide detectives Thomas Moore & Jane Rizzoli are on the hunt for a serial killer who kills women after removing their uterus. But Moore struggles when he becomes involved with a survivor of the killers previous attacks in Georgia.

Different than what I thought (in that Isles doesn‘t appear at all), and not like the tv show (yet), but I found it a fun read and will continue the series. Very bingeable.

GinaKButler I recently started this series, too! It‘s good! 6mo

This one had a slow start, and the writing was definitely a few steps down from the book I listened to just before this one (so it took some time to adjust to completely different writing in both style and quality). The story was disjointed in places, and that wasn‘t cleared up until at least half way through the book, so it just felt like there were these random fragments of other stories in random places.

GingerAntics The audiobook was literally just pulled from the original 2004 CD audiobook, so there are random “end of disk 4... disk 5” announcements in the middle of sentences. It would have taken less than an hour to edit those out and make this a proper digital audiobook. It just felt rushed and haphazard, almost as if no one cared to make a decent product. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 6mo
GingerAntics The case was compelling and there were a ton of revelations. There were a lot of twists and turns along the way. The killer, at the end, was shocking. This one had a lot of death and a lot of blood if that kind of thing bothers you. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 6mo
GingerAntics I think the thing that annoys me the most is that 3 of the first 4 books all have naked women on them, even though that‘s not part of the case at all. I‘m trying to figure out what dirty old man designed these book covers and why no one thought to stop him. #TessGerritsen #BodyDouble #RizzoliAndIsles #MauraIsles #JaneRizzoli #audiobook 6mo

This book is WAY better than the first. Isles is actually in this one, but far from the costar of the show. Jane‘s family is verbally and emotionally abusive toward her. Period. All of them, but especially her mother. This is not the lovable, slightly overprotective Angela from the show. This is a monster and her monster sons - wholly irredeemable. If this were set 10 years later, Jane would have gone no contact long ago.

GingerAntics Gerritsen wants readers to believe that 30-somethings in 2002 couldn‘t work or program a VCR which is ridiculously far from reality. The references to the war in Kosovo (I still remember where I was when I first heard about bombs being dropped over Kosovo) and home fax machines complete the story‘s placement in time. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 7mo
GingerAntics I still don‘t know why they have pagers AND cell phones, seeing that by 2002 pagers were no longer used professionally, even by drug dealers (the only people still using them, or so they jokes said, at that point). #TessGerritsen #TheApprentice #RizzoliAndIsles
