This was such an insight and very refreshing to read such an energetic and positive memoir from the region.
It was also interesting as the bedouin were telling me about their clashes in recent years with the authorities who have pushed them from their caves to housing units and how they have commercialised Petra.

pickI loved Darwin and enjoyed the parts most that focused on him. The author brought in some philosophy of things he learned from Darwin and, though I‘m not usually a fan of philosophy, I found this quite interesting. I did disagree with a lot of decisions the author made, especially as Darwin got more and more sick, but I still rated it as high as I did because of Darwin himself.
Really? You mean to tell me that a thirteen-year-old and a twelve-year-old couldn't come up with a solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict? You don't say!
pickLuma Mufleh reads her own words in the audiobook edition of her memoir and her emotions come through in her voice. She loves Jordan, the country where she grew up, but knew she risked death there for being queer, so she applied for asylum in the USA while attending college. The book is quite different from the memoir of another queer Muslim activist, Lamya H, although I like both. #LGBTQ
