#TheChessmen #PeterMay #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024 #August2024

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as all the books in the trilogy. It's hard to say good bye to the island of Lewis and all the wonderful characters that we met on the island. They all seem like real people to me. Excellent plot which kept the pages turning and lots of surprises at the end. Peter May is one talented writer! read 2/8/15

EadieB This book is a reread of The Chessmen by Peter May. It is about the body of Roddy MacKenzie being found during a 'Bog Burst' which drains a lock of its water revealing a light aircraft. I read this book 9-1/2 years ago and only remembered a few things. I'm looking forward to the next book, The Black Loch, by Peter May published in September 2024. reread 8/11/2024 4w

#TheLewisMan #PeterMay #August2024 #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024

The best features of this book were Peter May's beautiful writing and his description which made you feel like you were right there on the island witnessing everything that was happening. Also, I found the island and the people very interesting. It was a brilliant story with just enough mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. read 1/5/15

EadieB I have re-read The Lewis Man by Peter May from 1/5/15 and found out that I have forgotten most of what I read 9-1/2 years ago. It was all about Marsali's father and his dementia. I'm glad I re-read it and will now re-read The Chessmen. I'm getting ready to read book 4 when it will be published in September and I will be better prepared since I have re-read these 3 books. 8/9/24 1mo

Tove_Reads I am amazed that I have forgotten almost everything. I only remembered that this is one of my top 3 trilogies. So happy he decided to write a fourth book! 1mo
EadieB @Tove_Reads I am amazed that I have forgotten so much too. I think that I was confusing these books with the island books that Ann Cleeves write. (Shetland books) (edited) 1mo
kellock Wait! There's a fourth one?! 1mo
DieAReader 🥳Awesome!! 1mo
EadieB @kellock yes! It is published in September called The Black Loch! (edited) 1mo

2nd book in the Lewis trilogy and loving it. Have the 3rd on my night stand, will pick up the 1st tomorrow from the library. Love books that take place in other countries especially Ireland, and Scotland. This trilogy takes place in the Outer Herbrides of which I am interested in reading about.

Finished, picked up The Black House from library today and looking forward starting it. Too bad there are only 3 books in the Lewis series.

kspenmoll Just love this series! 3mo

Em & I have read much of the morning..#catsoflitsy
The 2nd in this trilogy is again set in the Outer Herbrides Islands of the coast of Scotland. Fin MacLeod has returned from Edinburgh, where he has left his police life behind. Nevertheless, he becomes involved in the investigation of a a murdered man who sports an Elvis tattoo. Another gripping, atmospheric mystery.

atenelli I have the first one of the series on my tbr files and cannot wait to start it. 3mo

A body is found in a bog on Lewis during turf cutting and found to be related to a local elderly man suffering from dementia. Only that man was believed to have no family. Thus sets off this well-crafted, atmospheric mystery. It has a strong sense of place in the Hebridean islands of Scotland. I really enjoyed it.

squirrelbrain It‘s part of a trilogy isn‘t it? (Hubby loves Peter May books) 11mo
Hooked_on_books @squirrelbrain Yes, it‘s actually book 2 and I haven‘t read book 1 but didn‘t feel like I was missing anything. I tend to prefer women writers, but his crafting is good enough that I would read more from him. And he made me feel like I was there, which I loved. 11mo

This is the dramatic conclusion to May‘s award-winning Lewis trilogy. Dramatic, tense, and fascinating. I had a bit of trouble distinguishing past from present via the audiobook, but that‘s forgivable bc of the impeccable writing🖤
