Happy Christmas Eve Eve! I‘m not going to finish anything else by tomorrow night, so here‘s my wrap up for #Adventathon which as usual did not go entirely as planned. But that‘s okay!

I finished three books from my original list plus two more. The tagged book plus three more from various libraries are riding around in my car waiting for me to get (back) to them.

The Frozen River became available earlier than expected, so I pivoted to it for now.

Susanita I also decided to move from Goodreads to StoryGraph, and I‘ve been laboriously scrubbing my data while watching TV and such. 🤪 3mo

1. Several years ago I developed a personal holiday tradition. On the way home from Christmas Eve service, I take a different route so I can see a historic bridge that‘s decorated with lights. I like to park across the street and sit quietly in my car for a few moments of calm and peace.

2. I‘m looking forward to reading the tagged book once I finish December book club selections.

TheSpineView Lovely tradition. Thanks for playing! 3mo

The body of eighteen-year-old TV personality Caitlin is found abandoned on a remote beach at the head of A Loch Dubh - the Black Loch - on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. When he learns that his married son Fionnlagh had been having a clandestine affair with the dead girl and is suspected of her murder, he and Marsaili return to try and clear his name.

EadieB I was enjoying reading your new novel, The Black Loch, but found an unnecessary mention of Donald Trump in the book. I feel as though two assassination attempts is reason enough to not mention him in a book. Otherwise, the book is very well written. Although it is read as the 4th book in the trilogy, it is easily read as a standalone. If you like books about a murderer on an island, then you will love reading this book. Highly recommended! I loved it! The best thing to do is to read the old books and then continue with this one. So many characters from back in the days, and so much history. This book was great, but also heartbreaking. Peter May is a magnificent writer, and his characters are so believable and flawed that sometimes it chills my bones. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#netgalley

EadieB @Tove_Reads I‘m ready to read The black loch but can‘t get the book until September 12th 7mo

#TheChessmen #PeterMay #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024 #August2024

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as all the books in the trilogy. It's hard to say good bye to the island of Lewis and all the wonderful characters that we met on the island. They all seem like real people to me. Excellent plot which kept the pages turning and lots of surprises at the end. Peter May is one talented writer! read 2/8/15

EadieB This book is a reread of The Chessmen by Peter May. It is about the body of Roddy MacKenzie being found during a 'Bog Burst' which drains a lock of its water revealing a light aircraft. I read this book 9-1/2 years ago and only remembered a few things. I'm looking forward to the next book, The Black Loch, by Peter May published in September 2024. reread 8/11/2024 7mo

#TheLewisMan #PeterMay #August2024 #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024

The best features of this book were Peter May's beautiful writing and his description which made you feel like you were right there on the island witnessing everything that was happening. Also, I found the island and the people very interesting. It was a brilliant story with just enough mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. read 1/5/15

EadieB I have re-read The Lewis Man by Peter May from 1/5/15 and found out that I have forgotten most of what I read 9-1/2 years ago. It was all about Marsali's father and his dementia. I'm glad I re-read it and will now re-read The Chessmen. I'm getting ready to read book 4 when it will be published in September and I will be better prepared since I have re-read these 3 books. 8/9/24 7mo

Tove_Reads I am amazed that I have forgotten almost everything. I only remembered that this is one of my top 3 trilogies. So happy he decided to write a fourth book! 7mo
EadieB @Tove_Reads I am amazed that I have forgotten so much too. I think that I was confusing these books with the island books that Ann Cleeves write. (Shetland books) (edited) 7mo

2nd book in the Lewis trilogy and loving it. Have the 3rd on my night stand, will pick up the 1st tomorrow from the library. Love books that take place in other countries especially Ireland, and Scotland. This trilogy takes place in the Outer Herbrides of which I am interested in reading about.

Finished, picked up The Black House from library today and looking forward starting it. Too bad there are only 3 books in the Lewis series.

kspenmoll Just love this series! 9mo
