Another late entry to #litsyyearbook. (I was away and then had to find my yearbook.) Graduating class of 91. My #bookishsuperlative then: most likely to spend all her money on magazines. (I LOVED magazines. I considered it a sign of the good life to have multiple subscriptions.) My #bookishsuperlative now? Most likely to remember a specific detail from a book while forgetting the plot and possibly the title.
@JacintaMCarter

LectricSheep That's so cute about the magazines! I love them too. Although I have to admit I'm kind of over my giant teetering pile of unread New Yorkers giving me 👀. 8y
LeahBergen Love it! 😂 8y
merelybookish @LectricSheep I stopped getting magazines years ago. I wasn't reading them. It makes me sad since they meant so much to me when I was younger. But reading habits change...Although I feel maybe I should support a few literary mags. And I have felt the New Yorker guilt before! 8y

LectricSheep I also feel like I should do more to support magazines. Have you seen Lapham's Quarterly? They're the magazine that has gotten me the closest to getting a new subscription over the past couple of years. Something about magazines just feels antiquated, though. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 8y
merelybookish @LectricSheep Agreed. I just feel they would pile up, unread. I haven't looked at Lapham's. I have considered Paris Review, Sun, Ploughshares, Grants, etc. 😐 8y
merelybookish @LeahBergen I somehow missed out on big hair! 8y
KVanRead @merelybookish @LectricSheep Love this! How I loved magazines. My first ever subscription was to Young Miss! I think my mom still has them.☺️ 8y
Laalaleighh Omg. @merelybookish feel you on the high school magazine addiction! @LectricSheep you too with the New Yorkers? I can feel them judging me. 8y
batsy Hahaha, love it! 8y
merelybookish @KVanRead Do you still subscribe to any magazines? 8y
merelybookish @Laalaleighh Always good to know we aren't the only ones! 8y
KVanRead No, not anymore. Like you the pressure of them piling up got to me. I was never any good at just flipping through and would try to read everything, lol. I think online articles and blog posts and social media like Litsy have taken up that space. 8y

Here's my entry into the #litsyyearbook. School photo from junior year, circa 2004. IRL I was voted "most likely to become a deejay," but the most accurate #bookishsuperlative from this era would probably be "most likely to have a locker overflowing with yaoi manga." Yes, I was one of those. ?

I'm way late to the #LitsyYearbook party, but I've had so much fun looking at all the posts that I couldn't resist joining in! Photo on left is my yearbook staff pic (I was so cool!) According to my Gr.13 (yes, we used to have that in Ontario ??back in the day) grad blurb I dreamed of one day editing GQ, but my #bookishsuperlative would have been "most likely to skip school to go to the library." @JacintaMCarter

LeahBergen 😂😂 Awesome!!! 8y
KVanRead @LeahBergen You still win.😘 8y

Sooo, I didn't participate in the #litsyyearbook thing because I have zero pictures of me before college. I don't even remember what I looked like when I was little because I haven't seen any pictures since I was a pre-teen. But, I did ask my mom if she had any pictures of me & she managed to find this tiny freshman yearbook pic, and I took a picture with it. So this is me then vs me now. I'm so glad I finally ditched that middle part 😂

My Senior Year of Awesome | Jennifer Digiovanni
post image

Here is my senior picture, class of 1997! I can't believe my 20 year reunion is next month. I'm not going, the people I'd want to see probably won't be there. My class had 437 people. I didn't make it into the superlative categories, but all the people that signed my books over the years said I was the nicest person they knew.

And my senior year was not awesome either (explanation 👇) 😆 #litsyyearbook

LibrarianToujours In November I almost died from a ruptured appendix, in December I had the flu, in January I was arrested on my dad's birthday (long story, but there was a family near us that liked to harass everyone in our neighborhood, I was eventually cleared because it was obvious they lied), and in May my boyfriend dumped me right before prom. Until senior year I had no drama and perfect attendance 😆 8y
ValerieAndBooks Whoa! When it rains it pours, doesn't it? You survived senior year!! Did you still get to go to prom? My boyfriend dumped me two weeks before junior prom but I was able to have a male friend come with me instead, this was back in the days when prom was for couples only. I didn't attend senior prom -- couldn't get a date 😔. 8y
GatheringBooks my 25th year reunion is next month (july) from my senior year in highschool - graduated 1992. we have "service-centered/giving back" type of activities so I will be conducting parent/teacher/student workshops, apart from revamping their library and donating thousands of books. :) 8y

LibrarianToujours @ValerieAndBooks I did! We went together anyway. I found out later that my mom "talked" to him before we left and told him I better have a good time ? Though if I hadn't been so surprised, I probably could have just found a friend to go. 8y
LibrarianToujours @GatheringBooks That sounds neat! Ours was organized by us and I think the person in charge just got frustrated trying to get anyone to respond. I think they are just meeting for drinks now. 8y

It's not a yearbook photo, but I found my student ID while tearing the house apart. Students can't afford haircuts. #LitsyYearbook

Rachbb3 I love the book title you chose. 😁 8y
DaveNeufeld @Rachbb3 haha fitting, right? 8y

Love the yearbook photos that have been showing up all over @Litsy !

I was voted Most Likely to Solve World Hunger, along with my classmate Mark. My #BookishSuperlative would probably be Most Likely to Get Detention for Reading in Class (true story: this actually happened to me in high school - and it was my English class!). #samehaircut10yearslater #litsyyearbook

JacintaMCarter I got detention on two separate occasions for reading during band. In my own defense, I played the tenor sax, so my part mostly consisted of extensive measures of rests. 8y
Saknicole Omg the mole. I miss the mole. I also got in trouble for reading during class of course. 8y
Kimberlone @JacintaMCarter @Saknicole good to know I wasn't the only one! 8y

This Litsy hashtag is so amusing...I love it! I shared this via FB awhile ago, but am happy to add it to my #litsyyearbook. Even though I don't have any #bookishsuperlatives I still think mine were pretty amazing...especially the last one! 😄 #classof2000
