#JamminJune #Melody

A book with melody in the title from my Kindle. I haven‘t read it yet although I used to read a lot of Mary Higgins Clark back in the day.

I was a tried-and-true American Girl fan way back when as a 90s kid, but since she made her debut, I have been thinking I need to check out #Melody, a Detroit girl from the 1960s. Has anyone's kid read these? What did they think? #AmericanGirl #JamminJune #MittenLitten #BlackStoriesMatter
@Eggs

Eggs My girls had American Girl dolls and stories and loved them (me too). Melody looks wonderful 🤗 4y
Andrea313 @Eggs Did you daughters have any favorites? I grew up on the original 3 girls and have read stories from some of the subsequent characters over the years, but haven't kept up in the past decade. However, a girl from my hometown in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement? Yes please! 4y

In the south-west of Ireland, rugged mountains meet bright blue lakes and thick forests. Deep in the woods, a young woman lives alone, forever secluded from the world, her life a well-kept secret. She possesses an extraordinary talent, the likes of which no-one has seen before: a gift that will earn her the nickname Lyrebird. #melody #jamminjune

#JamminJune Day 15: To answer the Q on where the sunrise begins, the author noted:
“Some say it begins in the treetop,
where the birds notice the first soft light
and begin to sing,
each in their own way,
with their own #melody,
waking the sleepy world around them,
while the first breeze shivers the smallest leaves.”

This is a diverse book featuring African Americans in the Motown era, Detroit, 1964. Not all details are accurate, as discussed with my parents who grew up in the city during this time. #AmericanGirl
