This is so much more than a thriller/ detective book. Great wisdom & writing from John Connelly. I often wonder how this Charlie Parker character is making his way relatively sanely ( so far ) through this book. The big fear at such loss would be a #MrAsylum situation ( no spoilers .all happens very early ) #OctoberXFiles

#OctoberXFiles I went literal #MrAsylum and I thought book & movie were both good. **OFF TOPIC** I heard the remake of A Star is Born is phenomenal- has anyone seen it?!?!? Apparently Lady Gaga is Oscar worthy🙌🏻 and how good looking is young Jack Nicholson?!?!

Lola Going to see Star tomorrow. In hs I was OBSESSED with the soundtrack of the ‘76 version (which I recently downloaded and still ❤️) And JACK....how could he possibly have been so young???!!!! 6y

Susannah @Lola My mom loved/loves all things Barbra Streisand, and I was raised on her albums, most especially the soundtrack to the 1976 version of A Star Is Born. I can appreciate the music of that soundtrack now in a way I never did when I was a kid. I‘m sure many would argue, but for me, Streisand‘s voice was never better. (edited) 6y

Reading all your posts about asylum books reminded me of a book I loved as a teen. It‘s a semi autobiographical novel about a 16 year old schizophrenic girl who gets some help to find her way out of an imagined world that has become her reality. I thought it might be outdated but it‘s still getting some good reviews on GR, so hopefully still one to recommend!

When the Harmless Like You was about to be published, the author was freaking out a little (paraphrasing slightly)! So she did what we all do in these situations- took herself off to the library.
