One of the things I love most about Murakami‘s writing, is the descriptions of everyday life. The order of the day, what his characters cooked, what they remembered, when they slept, what the weather was doing. It creates such a strong atmospheric sense that I keep reading just to be there. This book was no different. It was slow, but steady, with his characteristic fantastical and inexplicable happenings. It‘s a long one, but well worth it.
Couple things - for #riotgrams my husband and I love the idea of turning this into an anime series. But I‘m always a little hesitant to want for adaptations too much because of the risk that they‘ll ruin it.
Secondly, this is my all-time favorite book cover. And a fantastic book. Although it takes a strong stomach to get through certain parts. #murakamicultmember
Just a short break from #LitsyPartyOfOne to wish my favorite author a very Happy Birthday. No one understands the intricacies of mental illness without being cliche quite like HM. One day my collection will be complete and it‘ll be the happiest day! #MurakamiCultMember
Today's library haul! What should I read first?
Men without Women was an impulse grab. My #litsypenpal @DiruVamp recommended Murakami and this was just sitting there on "lucky" shelf.
Spending the day indoors knitting my wool socks for winter, and reading Murakami's new short stories.

"Hello, goodbye."
In his latest short story collection Murakami is much more direct, naked and raw than previously. Less surreal, Lonliness is the main theme here which is brought forward through a various of perspectives, scenes and mindsets. Needless to say a great peice of art even though the last story kind of took the wind out of my sails here.. Bad idea to read this on a Friday afternoon ;)
