I listened to this one to see if it might be a series I‘d enjoy but I don‘t think so. The plot is good and so are the twists but I didn‘t really warm up to main character Myron Bolitar. Also the sexism of Bolitar and his friends and probably Coben himself as well, was irritating. I know the book was written in the 90s, but is that an excuse?
So I‘m kind of relieved I can let go of these series!
I will try another stand alone Harlan Coben though.

Lesliereadsalot I wish I could remember some good ones, but I can‘t. Could be this style is just not for you. Beach reads, every one of them! 3w
BarbaraBB @Lesliereadsalot I enjoyed that stand alone one that I read a few months ago so I will get another one of those! 3w
Lesliereadsalot The tv series about Myron Bolitars son was horrible! 3w

BarbaraBB @Lesliereadsalot his son? Jessica‘s as well? 3w
Lesliereadsalot @BarbaraBB The mother in the tv series was named Shira. Myron was supposedly dead and Mickey, the kid, was looking for him. I didn‘t watch that much! 3w
Readerann I‘ve given up on Coben. 3w
BarbaraBB @Readerann I get why! 3w

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 I‘ve read reviews of Harlan Coben books on Litsy and they‘ve been pretty enthusiastic. So I gave this book a listen and was not disappointed. It was written and takes place in the 1990s, so car phones with cords, pay phones, no cell phones. I got a little early Spenser vibe, mostly because Myron has a running internal dialogue and has a quirky sense of humor. Myron gets beaten up more than Spenser and Win has (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 some similarities to Hawk. They both are killers but Hawk has a personal code that I think Win lacks. I did not see the “whodunnit” ending at all. Recommended. 7mo

RamsFan1963 I was a big fan of this series, until the 3rd book, when Myron did something that really pissed me off (no spoilers) and put me off the series for good. 7mo
CatLass007 @RamsFan1963 Hmmm. I hate to hear that. Have you read other books by Harlan Coben in which he wrote the “hero” doing questionable things? Thanks for the warning and for not spoiling it. I appreciate that you are allowing me to reach my own conclusions. 7mo
RamsFan1963 @CatLass007 What he did might not bother you at all, but it touched something in my personal life, and I couldn't read the series anymore. 7mo
CatLass007 @RamsFan1963 I‘m sorry you had that experience. It doesn‘t sound good. 7mo

The last couple I‘ve read in this series have definitely been the weakest- but back with a bang with this one. Great plot/twists and turns and a right woah at the end I wasn‘t expecting!

Not a single five star reads in June, but many 4-4,5 star reads. I‘m picking Coben‘s Think Twice for the win! Hannah‘s The Women comes in second.

Andrew65 A while since I read some of his books, and need to get back to him. 8mo

Myron, a "sports agent" who never seems to actually work, investigates a double murder when one of his clients, who was believed to be dead himself, is accused. I hated the audio reading (especially wanted to tear out my earbuds whenever Myron's parents are speaking), and the whiny drama caused by Myron's ex and their lovechild is pretty annoying. But the possible serial killer mystery was good enough to get me through.

If you read Harlan Coben, you know how his books go. Murder, suspects, followed by a murderer you didn‘t suspect. This one‘s a serial killer with Myron Bolitar and his ginormously wealthy friend Win on the case. A quick satisfying read.

Tove_Reads @Leftcoastzen @dabbe Thank you! 🥰 it‘s a lot to take in - one has ALS, three cancer. Hard to concentrate when you such awful news from friends. Feel so helpless, not much I can do. Trying to read, it usually helps me. 1y

Wow another great Harlan Coben novel. I am a fan of the books and this was another great one. The plot is fast paced and builds to one hell of an ending. Im not sure i can remember the last time when a book had me on the edge of the seat to see how it would turn out. The mystery itself is clever and leaves you guessing. I had theories but was only partly right. I loved Myron and of course Win, their friendship is incredible. #Netgalley
