This #Newbery honor book is a beautiful, touching story of two young girls coming to terms with the loss of their baby sister. #ItHadToBeYou #lovelost @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs

My theme this year is "Award Winners Edition"
The John #Newbery Medal is awarded annually for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year. Started in 1922, it was the first children's book award in the world.
@megnews

megnews I love your theme! 2y
sblbooks @megnews thanks, I'm really excited about it! 2y
JaclynW Fun theme! I'm liking your choices. Some I've read (all excellent). Now I have more to add to my list. 2y

Cruelty upon cruelty. I felt this poem was one of the most striking and heartbreaking in the entire book, yet also so beautifully written. 💔

After picking up the book I had on hold, I wandered into the book sale (why do I do this to myself??) and came out with these. I couldn‘t believe all of the #Newbery books I was able to snag! 🤩🤩🤓
Also sorry for the bombardment of posts: I haven‘t been on in while and am playing catch up!

ravenlee I remember Babysitting is a Dangerous Job! Willo Davis Roberts, right? 3y
keys_on_fire @ravenlee Yep! That‘s one that I bought for the #paperbackcrush challenge I issued to myself: trying to read as many books mentioned in Paperback Crush as I can! 3y

ravenlee I visited my parents recently and tried to snag Roberts‘ The Girl with the Silver Eyes from the shelf of kids‘ books, but my sister claimed it first. Strictly speaking, it was hers first, but I‘m still grumpy about it. 3y

#bookreport
I finished four books this week, plus a great Audible original. Book 1 was for #tob20; book 2 was an impulse library read; book 3 is for the #supertob; and book 4 was announced as the 2020 #Newbery winner this week.

#weeklyforecast
I FINALLY started The Testament my last #ToB book, and I started Invested on audio this morning. I want to continue reading down my #BotM pile, so I hope to get to A Woman is No Man this week.

Cinfhen Wow!!!! Congrats on tackling the #ToB20 list 🙌🏻💕🎉 what‘s the #SuperToB???? (edited) 3y
thebluestocking Once this year‘s #tob winner is crowned, there will be 16 total winners. So there is talk about doing a whole tournament with the winners! 💙 3y

The perfect Independence Day read. A classic coming-of-age story set in colonial Boston. Johnny is a talented Silversmith Apprentice, but after a horrific accident he is forced to make a new life for himself. #Newbery

1955 Newbery winner. In a small town in the Netherlands a school (5 boys, 1 girl) work to bring storks back to town. They make friends with several old people in town, learn how different people have different strengths, and how important teamwork is. A great book and very much still relevant and very much worth reading! I had never heard of this and did not read it as a kid, which makes me kind of sad. #newbery

BarbaraBB I have never heard of this one too, living in the Netherlands. Must check out! 3y
DreesReads It‘s really sweet and perfect for Newbery-aged kids! You‘ll have to tell me how realistic the setting is. 3y
