OriginalCyn620 Definitely! But I think that about pretty much every book I read! 4y
megnews Yes but I find that‘s so often the case between mothers and daughters. 4y
Hooked_on_books Totally agree with @megnews 4y
thereadingowlvina Absolutely! But the lack of openness & honesty is a typical issue between teenagers and parents 😊 4y
sblbooks @OriginalCyn620 @megnews @Hooked_on_books @thereadingowlvina Yes, there were definitely times they needed more open and honest communication. I think that's true of everyone. 4y

OriginalCyn620 It wasn‘t anything groundbreaking for the genre but it was very well done. 4y
Hooked_on_books I thought it was good, but Reconstructing Amelia, which has some similarities, is better. 4y
thereadingowlvina I enjoyed the plot and twist. It was well done. Above all I resonate strongly with Abi - single mother (although I remarried now) & I discovered my mom's suicide 11 years ago. So, I can relate to the trauma Abi experienced & her worries as a single mom. 4y
sblbooks @Hooked_on_books I've added Reconstructing Amelia to my TBR. 4y
sblbooks @thereadingowlvina I'm very sorry, for the loss of your Mom! I can't imagine how hard must be for you. I'm glad you liked the book, and enjoyed the discussion. 4y

megnews I‘m not new to this genre but I haven‘t read a mystery in a long time. They were getting too formulaic for me. I really tend to stick to history with a little memoir thrown in and I‘m pretty happy with that. Still, I appreciated pushing beyond those limits and enjoyed this book and really enjoyed reading with the group. (edited) 4y
OriginalCyn620 Not new to the genre but I loved this one! The author did a great job of casting doubt over many characters so that it kept me guessing. There‘s not really an aspect that I didn‘t enjoy. 4y
CoffeeNBooks I like mysteries, but I like that this one was a little different than most I've read in that it also had the additional stories of friendship, love, and family. The stories of Derek, Abbi & Anthony, and Abbi's relationship with her sister made it a more well-rounded story than mysterious sometimes are. 4y

megnews I agree with @CoffeeNBooks. I find many mysteries might have a romance component for added tension to the story but you don‘t often see these types of familial, loving relationships. I enjoyed that aspect for sure and really hurt for Abbi losing Olivia. 4y
Hooked_on_books I love mysteries. I liked this one but there were aspects that bothered me. I didn‘t like that she didn‘t question the note pushed under her door. She just believed it without question and I thought that‘s was unrealistic since she didn‘t know where it came from. Also, the medical stuff at the end had some major errors that took me out of the story a bit. 4y
thereadingowlvina I love murder mysteries but I usually read historical murder mysteries. Thought I'd give this one a try and I'm glad I did! This book exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be reading this author's other books 😊 4y
sblbooks @megnews @OriginalCyn620 @CoffeeNBooks @Hooked_on_books @thereadingowlvina I've only been listening to psychological thrillers/suspense novels for a couple of years. This is one of the best ones. I saw a review that said it was too much like a Hallmark Channel movie, I disagree since I love Hallmark movies. I thought it was a nice change to actually care about the characters in the end. 4y

megnews I did suspect Tyler but I suspected almost everyone. I can‘t remember the best friends name anymore but I suspected her and her mom and Olivia‘s dad and his daughter. 4y
OriginalCyn620 I suspected pretty much everyone throughout, but never really paid much attention to Tyler. 4y
CoffeeNBooks @megnews @OriginalCyn620 Same! It didn't occur to me to suspect Tyler. 4y
See All 7 Comments
EH2018 I though Tyler, then a couple others, but I thought Tyler could have been the stalker because of how upset he was about his parents breakup. I did not guess how it all went down though 4y
Hooked_on_books I thought the author did a good job of setting up a lot of potential suspects. I wasn‘t surprised that it was Tyler, but I wouldn‘t have been surprised if it was a number of people. 4y
thereadingowlvina I did not suspect Tyler at all! I thought it would be Olivia's dad or/and his daughter. That's why I enjoyed the twist in this book! 4y
sblbooks @megnews @OriginalCyn620 @CoffeeNBooks @EH2018 @Hooked_on_books @thereadingowlvina my number one suspect was Madison, number to Gavin. Tyler came in at number three. I agree the author did an excellent job, keeping us in suspense. 4y

OriginalCyn620 I thought they had similar reactions, though each had different reasons for wanting to keep their babies. 4y
megnews @OriginalCyn620 agreed. And a typical reaction for a young, unwed mom. 4y

megnews I think there was just such a lack of closure in her life and that was still with her, haunting her after all this time. I think she needed closure for one to be able to cope with another great loss. 4y

megnews Sadly I think they often are mutually exclusive though of course not always. I want both! 4y
OriginalCyn620 More times than not I think they are mutually exclusive. In the end, I think I‘d want truth, and if it brings unhappiness, hopefully I could find a way past it. 4y
EH2018 Yes, though not always. Its a tough choice, but I too think truth 4y

Hooked_on_books I think they can be mutually exclusive but are certainly not always. I think if you are lucky enough to have people around you who do not broadly betray you, then you can have both. I think to suggest they are definitively mutually exclusive is pretty jaded. 4y
thereadingowlvina I'll pick truth any day! 4y
sblbooks @megnews @OriginalCyn620 @EH2018 @Hooked_on_books @thereadingowlvina When I was younger I was just like Olivia: truth no matter what. That has changed a little bit as I've aged. There's been a few times I wish I didn't know the truth, after the fact. 4y
jpellet I‘m not sure which I would choose, but I think it would depend on the situation! I usually would choose the truth, but I think there are times that the truth does no good, and it would be better to be in oblivion. 4y
sblbooks @jpellet I totally agree. 4y
