Girl Runner | Carrie Snyder

I‘ve kicked off Murica-Free March with another from the Canada Reads Longlist. GIRL RUNNER gives off that particular CanLit vibe that has the capacity to leave me deeply unsettled. Hopefully it‘ll be the good kind, not the kind that puts a bad taste in my mouth. At page 75, it‘s too early to say.

And I mean, hey, it might not unsettle me at all in the end. Sometimes early vibes mellow out. I‘ll report back. #MFMarch

Mimi28 Awesome!! So you think the #LitsyPetClub is a good idea? That‘s Casey right? So far I am thinking just Litsy name, pet names, species of pet and how many. I am not sure about breed because lots of pets are mixed breeds. I am being forced to learn spreadsheets anyway so I may as well make it homework, lol 1h

Honestly this was quite boring and dragged. Usually the books are fast paced..I wouldn't recommend reading this one in the series.

How perfect today's prompt is for #25Alive as I visited my FOTL bookstore today and came home with this #bookhaul. Quite a variety, and I'm quite happy with this first stack of the new year.

Pickpick

This book was a great story of the one and only gymnast Simone Biles and her life story. I think this story was great, and really gave me more detail and facts behind who Simone Biles was and how she got started into her career.

Pickpick

The story of Gertrude Ederle (Trudy) the first woman to swim the English Channel. A natural born swimmer, She loved the water. She was one of the first women to compete in the Olympics. She was certain she could swim across the Channel. With her second try she did it! Trudy suffered from loss of hearing in one ear and had lots of ear infections. She was shy and didn‘t like the limelight. The first chapters were slow, the rest were great. 4/5

Soubhiville Saw this available to watch on Disney streaming last night. I‘ll probably watch it at some point. Glad you enjoyed it! 4mo

I just started reading this. I hope it will be as good as its reviews. The prologue and first couple of chapters didn‘t grab my attention. I‘m finding it more interesting with each new chapter.

This is a reread for me and an excellent palate cleanser after T.C. Boyle‘s Outside Looking In. I have a friend who lives out of state and we started “ buddy reads” about a year ago. This was her choice for Labor Day. I read this book when it was first published. It is just as good the second time around.
