Had a delightful surprise parcel arrive all the way from 🇨🇦- thanks @LeahBergen ! I definitely had an Anne phase but never really thought to explore her other works.

I opened this parcel at my grandparents and the moose poo bookmark really tickled my Nana - she‘s probably still giggling (she‘s so cute). Love that the label on the back reassures that the bookmark is odourless 🤣

❤️🤍❤️

LeahBergen You‘re so welcome! And I‘m glad that your Nana liked it, too! 😆😆 3d

This was a quick, delightful-if somewhat predictable- read. Anne is still my favorite but I do like Jane.

Just returned from a week in PEI. One of my kids' favourite activities was the Eckhart walk in Charlottetown. A scavenger hunt that takes you through the old town, finding little statues of Eckhart the mouse from the tagged PEI Christmas classic. And of course we had to stop at Bookmark (awesome store!) to pick up a copy for our collection!

Still wrapping up December reviews. This was a collection of old fashioned short stories. Each one was uplifting and celebrated a time when it was most exciting to go to a “taffy pull”! Just the kind of warmth that I needed. #blameitonlitsy #kindredspiritschristmas

BarbaraJean Thank you for joining the buddy read! This was such a great Christmas comfort read. ☺️ 1y
DivineDiana @BarbaraJean It really was! Happy New Year! ❤️ 1y

I finished reading these stories for the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead.
#KindredSpiritsChristmas @BarbaraJean

They were very enjoyable. The themes were somewhat repetitive, but who doesn't like stories about families reconciling and people helping the less fortunate at this time of the year?

#WinterReadathon @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
#BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

kwmg40 Here in Ontario, we're being hit hard with a winter storm. My own family members are all safe and cozy and only suffered a few hours' power outage. However, I felt for the train passengers who were stranded on a train with no food or water for 18 hours. I wished there had been an Aunt Cyrilla with a big Christmas basket to give them some joy! 1y
DieAReader 🥶❄️🎄🥳Great job! Stay warm🔥 1y
Andrew65 Well done 🎄🎄🎄 Stay tucked in reading at home. Seen pictures on the Internet, looks absolutely awful. 🥶🥶🥶 1y

BarbaraJean Thanks for joining in the buddy read! I feel for those train passengers, too—what a parallel to Aunt Cyrilla! And stranded passengers strikes a chord for me this year. I‘m in Southern California, so no winter snow for us, but my dad flew to Indiana with my niece & her husband to spend Christmas with my sister‘s family, and they got stuck at the Cincinnati airport overnight because the roads were closed between there and my sister‘s house. 🥶 1y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 1y
kwmg40 @DieAReader @Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks Thanks for the encouragement! Things are much better now, weather-wise. I hope that's also the case for those in other stricken areas.

kwmg40 @BarbaraJean Sorry to hear that your family was also affected from the storm. The son of a good friend of mine missed coming home for Christmas because the trains were cancelled, but at least he didn't get caught on one of the ones that were stuck for almost a full day. 1y

repost for @BarbaraJean:

Hello Kindred Spirits! I planned to put together a calendar for the 2023 #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead, but the month has gotten away from me. (It doesn't help that I keep finding more Anne retellings that sound really good… or that I‘m indecisive!)

So—I‘m planning on Before Green Gables by Budge Wilson for January, and will come up with the rest of 2023 later 😆

LitsyEvents Please comment on the original post if you‘d like to be tagged for this #BuddyRead—all are welcome!

Finished up this seasonal #kindredspiritsbuddyread in bed last night. Lots of making amends and focus on helping those less fortunate, for some sweet (but not too saccharine) stories. I especially enjoyed the ones laced with humor, but could see revisiting many of these in future Yuletide seasons.

Finishing this collection with another sweet story of goodwill and giving at Christmas. These LMM Christmas stories had lots of repeated themes, and some were a bit heavy-handed, but overall: they‘re lovely, cozy, and filled with kindness. I loved the reminders to take joy in giving and in being with others during this season. Thank you so much to everyone who read along with the #KindredSpiritsBuddyRead for a #KindredSpiritsChristmas!

AnnR Thank you for hosting @BarbaraJean. I enjoyed the stories too and might not have read them without the buddy read. 1y
TheAromaofBooks I really enjoyed reading through these and definitely see myself rereading them again next year. They were sometimes a little sappy, but overall the themes of forgiveness and generosity really resonated with me. 1y
Prairiegirl_reading Thank you so much for suggesting this and hosting. I really enjoyed it. I don‘t think I would have read this one otherwise and I‘m so glad that I did! 1y
