I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I was torn between pick and so-so. This is my 2nd read and my kids love it, but reading it out loud sucks. I love Roald Dahl and usually love his made up words but the giant only speaks in them. So my kids stop me from reading to discuss what does he mean? Eventually I just read the words he was intending to say so we could get into the story and just said some like phizzwizard. Fun book about Roald Dahl's further adventures as a young man. In Africa and as a RAF pilot in N. Africa and Greece during WW2.

This was a sweet story about Danny and his dad and their poaching adventure. I enjoyed that they have midnight feasts when they can‘t sleep. Dahl‘s writing is so personal. Like the narrator is talking directly to you.

Aimeesue My 4th grade teacher read this to us and i still remember it vividly. ❤️ 5mo

This was one of my favorite Roald Dahl books growing up, but I haven‘t revisited it as an adult. Still a great story! The love and friendship between Danny and his father is so special, and the way they work together (to give Victor Hazell his comeuppance) is perfect!
Quite an adventure!
And Roald Dahl writes the most nasty, villainous adults! I have to skim read their parts 🤣
(I found this fabulous vintage copy for my shelves!)

mabell @Aimeesue You have a good memory! I‘m trying to remember when I first read it! I can‘t think of anything I associate with it that would pin down the timing. This is going to drive me crazy 😆 13mo
mabell @AvidReader25 Same! I‘m always a little nervous going back to books I loved so much, but this was just as I remembered! ❤️ 13mo
mabell @Librarybelle I was so excited! It was a former school library copy that I extricated from the book cover! 13mo
squirrelbrain I had this exact cover, although mine was paperback! 13mo
mabell @squirrelbrain How fun! It‘s such a perfect cover for this book! I‘m trying to remember the one I had - I didn‘t remember this one, but I also didn‘t think it was Quentin Blake 🤔 13mo
