Discussion of November and December Chapters

Question 4 of 4

EadieB I was glad in the end when Tom and Cathy got together as they were more on the same page and their partners were more about what was best for themselves. 5y
JacqMac I loved the end. I think Tom and Cathy belong together. And those those littles got to learn what a family really is. 5y

Question 3 of 4

EadieB I think Marcella's time in London clearly changed her mind about becoming a super model but she made her decision and now has to pay the consequences. 5y
JacqMac I think she had a wake up call. Her dreams, didn‘t fit her reality. 5y
Andrew65 Certainly compromised herself and went against her own values before waking up. 5y

Discussion of November and December Chapters

Question 2 of 4

EadieB I think it was time to split up because Neil clearly does not think Cathy's business is important and he did not consider her in any way about the decision to move. 5y
JacqMac I think it was over. Neil didn‘t respect her the way a husband should respect a wife. (edited) 5y
Andrew65 That was a very telling oversight, and then to see her career was unimportant! End of days! 😔 @EadieB @JacqMac 5y

Discussion of November and December Chapters

Question 1 of 4

EadieB I don't think Neil and Cathy really loved each other. For one thing, you can't consider taking a job in another area without communicating with your wife about it first. Are you still going to go if she cannot go at this time? 5y
JacqMac I agree with @EadieB They didn‘t have a good relationship. He was closer to the people he worked with than his wife. 5y
Andrew65 I think he loves the thought of her, and going against his parents, but do not believe he loves her. He always see,s to be wanting to fight a cause. @JacqMac @EadieB 5y
JacqMac @Andrew65 That‘s true, too. He liked fighting his mom. And probably saw Cathy as “the little guy”. 5y

#ScarletFeather #MaeveBinchey

Dublin Ireland: Cathy Scarlet & Tom Feather start a catering business that transforms their lives. Maeve Binchy has brought us another great story filled with warmth, wit and drama. Her characters are very believable and seem like friends by the end of the book. Some make you laugh, others make you cry and you will miss them after the last chapter. Look forward to my next Binchy book. Highly recommend this one!

Scochrane26 This one & Quentins have been my favorites of hers. (edited) 5y

I love all of Maeve‘s books, but this is one of my favourites. I love her take on small town Ireland and normal, yet messed up families.

Another great book from the much missed Maeve Binchy. Very interesting to see the relationships develop, or not, over a year following Tom and Cathy setting up a catering business at the beginning of a year. There is a big group of characters in this book, some you root for, others that you do the very opposite for. So much happens through the year that leaves them reeling! Certainly recommended but set a good amount of time to read this big book.

Discussion of September and October Chapters

Question 4 of 4

EadieB Yes! They were very kind to Maud and Simon in the past and that should prove to help them get accepted to foster them again. 5y
Tove_Reads Yes. Things must have changed in Ireland since this book, although as a country with quite a lot of poor people and alcoholic parents children have lived in awful families that were their own. I wish parents would sometimes take their children to the pound, as they would with their dog if they couldn‘t handle the situation. I know it‘s hard, but not everyone is capable of taking care of others. 5y
Andrew65 Most definitely! They love them and would do the best for them. 5y
JacqMac Yes! 5y

Discussion of September and October Chapters

Question 3 of 4

EadieB I think Walter knows that the police will be looking for him and he will probably take off for England and not come back. I was surprised that he rescued Simon and Maud at the racecourse. 5y
Tove_Reads If he thought the children followed him there he had to avoid losing face. 5y
Andrew65 Very surprised that he went to Maud and Simon, perhaps he was trying to find out if anyone else was at the racecourse anc looking for him, especially the police. Hopefully the last we will see of him. @EadieB @Tove_Reads 5y
JacqMac I‘d be fine if Walter would just disappear. 5y
