Day 22 - #WhiteAndBlue #FestivePhotoChallenge #WinterGames #JingleBallers #TheWomanInWhite #WilkieCollins

Published in 1859, we are immediately intrigued by the narrative - a young and genial tutor of arts, Walter Hartright, encounters a woman dressed head to toe in white who is lost in the streets of London. After reporting her to the authorities Walter is informed that the lady was an escapee from a mental asylum.

Pickpick

Today's #riotgrams is #favoritevillain and mine is hands down...Count Fosco from The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. What a book! I simply could not put down this classic of sensation literature and it led me on the path of so many other wonderful books from this genre. #wilkiecollins #thewomaninwhite

hlgreenfield I've had that book in my tbr for a while now! I must check it out. 8y
Theliterarystew @hlgreenfield You should! It's a page turner. 8y
hlgreenfield @Theliterarystew I'll have to. I've always been fascinated since his are supposedly some of the first books in the genre ( and it's my favourite genre), but I've always been afraid it might be very slow moving and descriptive as book of that time can be! 8y
Theliterarystew @hlgreenfield The first dozen or so pages are slow but it picks up soon enough. You should also try East Lynne. Same genre. 8y
hlgreenfield @Theliterarystew glad to hear it's a good read. I've never heard of it, but it's been added to my tbr. Always happy to pick up new recommendations. ☺ 8y
