The Airport Book | Lisa Brown
post image
Pickpick

#StorySettings Day 3: #AirportOrPlane - posting in advance because will be in an airport and plane (3 in total) tomorrow as we travel Abu Dhabi ➡️ Doha ➡️ Oslo ➡️ Bodø just like tomorrow‘s prompt. Over and above this picturebook providing a detailed description of what to expect in airports, the “diverse” element is a given rather than explicitly articulated or pounded over the head of the reader. This was recommended to me a few years ago, but I never got around to reading it. The sequel came out recently, and I finally decided to read this one and I absolutely loved it. All of the characters were great and the ending had me on an emotional roller coaster and I just loved it so much. I can‘t wait to read the next one.

(2024) Reread in anticipation of the second book coming out in early March. I have recommended this book endlessly the last few years and for good reason.

(2018) First read as ARC. Screams to the whole world to drop everything and read this book. Awards received throughout the following year.

This was the first book that came to mind when I saw this question. A beautiful story of a father & daughter traveling in a school bus. Their story, the stories of those they meet & the lessons learned are wonderfully written.

Karisimo Great minds….! 10mo
rubyslippersreads Does this count as a (Yellow Brick) Road trip? 😂👠🌈 10mo

This is an excellent MG book of a father and daughter trying to outrun their sadness. They meet lots of fun characters along the way!

Read4life I picked the same book. 🤓 10mo

Story Boat | Kyo Maclear

This storybook tells about the journey of young refugees. Simple objects provide comfort in uncertain times as they struggle to define where “here“ is when it isn't home. With a little imagination, a cup becomes a boat, a blanket a sail, and so on to aid them on their journey.

#SummerSpecial Day 2: Not just any #boat but a Story #Boat. Narrated in lyrical text that builds up on words and phrases cumulatively leading to the next stop in one‘s journey, and accompanied by art that is both heartfelt and hopeful – is of its own league altogether. My review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-mAF perfect for #DecolonizeReading2023 too.
