panI'm a sucker for kids' books from the 50s and 60s, but this one was a dud. I don't mind a young character being kind of not-smart/ignorant so that the reader can learn alongside of them, but the girl in this book was so stupid that I worried for her overall survival into adulthood. I think it was supposed to be funny? But it was just annoying lol

In 2015 for the 70th anniversary of VE Day, there was a flyover of Washington with vintage aircraft. From my workplace I could see the whole thing. A #boat in the Channel also provided a good vantage point. #summerspecial

When I think of a #boat I think about Willy Potts & his rowboat & the floatilla of unusual boats of the “summerfolk” in this book. One of my favorite childhood picture books, I bought a copy off of Ebay a few years ago & the charm of this story is still there.💚

As much as I love Albom's books, this one was quite disappointing. It read like a poor man's Life of Pi.
