Pickpick

This is a great look at Vitruvian Man, and a wonderful look into the mind of Leonardo da Vinci. I‘m so glad I stumbled upon this book and read it. Its exactly what I was looking for to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Leo‘s death. This book is readable and approachable. It‘s a good length, just the right amount of detail. The included artwork is wonderful. A good glimpse into the world into which this drawing was conceived.

GingerAntics The whole thing feels like a journey deep into the world and philosophy of this famous drawing, but it comes full circle: the prologue and the final chapter bring Leo‘s journey full circle while the preface and epilogue being Lester‘s (and our own) journey full circle. It ended where it began (on all accounts) and when you get done you feel like you‘ve traveled many miles to arrive at the same place you left from in the best possible way. 5y
GingerAntics Highly recommend for all fans of Leonardo da Vinci. #DaVincisGhost #TobyLester #VitruvianMan #LeonardoDaVinci #Leo 5y

Wonderful detail images taken by Toby Lester of the Vitruvian Man, showing just who hard Leo presses into this page. As Lester describes it, it‘s like Leo etched Vitruvian Man into the paper as opposed to drawing it on the paper.

This moment. This closing remark of Leo‘s journey before Lester‘s is nearly wrapped up in the epilogue. This was oddly thrilling and exhilarating.

GingerAntics @julesG maybe you need a nerd thrill, like this one?! 5y

Since there are 5 more days before the 500th anniversary of Leo‘s death, and I will read almost anything to avoid Isaacson‘s napfest (never mind this sounds like a really awesome book!!!) I‘m taking this bad boy for a spin.

GingerAntics 🤣😂🤣 Love that the D is sort of censoring the genitals of the Vitruvian Man. 🤣😂🤣 Sorry (but not), I‘m a nine year old trapped in an adult‘s body. 😏💙😏 5y

This is one of my favorite drawings ever. I‘ve been obsessed with it since I was a kid. I like this deeper analysis of it. (I wonder if there is a book completely about this drawing...hm)

GingerAntics @wanderinglynn I actually just added that to my wish list in Apple Books. I wasn‘t aware that was mostly about Vatruvian Man, so that‘s another plus for that book. Thanks for the recommendation. 5y

Knowing that the Vitruvian Man may be a type of self-portrait of Da Vinci makes me look at it in a whole new way. #davinci #leonardodavinci #walterisaacson #vitruvianman #art #history #biography
