4 ⭐This book is a labor of love. You can see it on every single page of the book. This book is completely wordless and it‘s about a little girl who goes to the museum with their adult and they get told the balloon has to stay out. Through the comedic panels we follow the little girl as she visits the real-life art exhibit, and we follow a museum docent as they‘re trying to get the balloon once birds send it flying.

LibrarianRyan This book could be read repeatedly and come up with new scenarios for what each picture represents. And seeing how the docent in is mimicking what the girl is seeing in the museum, priceless. 6mo

A 2020 #WCCPBA nominee, and the newest student poster in my library, a 30 year tradition. 6th graders make a book poster after learning ratio in math. Our 6th grade moved to the middle school, and I haven't received a poster in years. I didn't allow the 5th graders to carry on because it made sense to pair it with the math lesson. I tell them when they graduate to make a plan, learn the math, and I'll give them the paper which is 24X18in.

I display this picture from the book for the students to emulate when they draw themselves after reading the story.

Normally I would do this lesson with all of kindergarten, but it was skipped last year and I only had time to do it with a third of them this year. We read the book, and then they draw themselves. I give them a piece of origami paper to cut out a circle and have them paste it down. And then they draw their string. So much fun. #everybodybooks #readoutloud

#BloomingBibliophiles Day 8: Glasser‘s attention to detail in this wordless picturebook is amazing. It is what could be aptly described as “brimful of curiosities.” While the little girl happily tours the museum – she remains #blissful(ly) unaware that her balloon is causing a ruckus around town, with the poor Museum Officer probably regretting his decision to be the balloon‘s nanny for the time being. “What oppression like this did was inhibit individual connections. Personal connections created a community, and community wasn‘t the opposite of individualism. We were collectively a whole made of millions of moving parts, each of us our own gear interlocking with another gear and turning the world a little farther in the right direction.”
