Liked this one! Went into it with zero expectations. I thought the first half was really strong & liked reading/learning about Japanese culture and the various temples. The ending was a bit rushed but still overall a satisfying read. This is my "P" for #LitsyAtoZ debut for #readharder , #booksetinAsia for @BetterWorldBooks challenge and #bookinvolvingtravel for#popsugar

Reviewsbylola Glad you enjoyed it too! My expectations were really low too, only because I didn't know what to expect! 7y
Cinfhen @Reviewsbylola Exactly, it was a #BOTM impulse buy and I'm glad I added it to my order 💜 7y

brennahawleycraig Oh good call for book involving travel for popsugar. I'm going to try to fit in as many book of the month ones into that challenge as possible. I have this one on my TBR pile! 7y
shawnmooney I was curious about this one already. Now I will definitely check it out! 😍😍 7y

Regardless of personal beliefs, this is a beautiful, haunting, provocative novel in several ways ~ What does it mean to believe, to have faith, to hold ground on what matters and makes you 'you'? ~ September Photo Challenge catch-up ~ #Day10 #BookSetInAsia #bookphotochallenge

Tsubame Added to my 'have to read' list ;) 8y
bmsddk @Tsubame Nice 😄 Whenever you get a chance to read it (which, with TBR lists, can take a while, haha), curious to know what you think! 8y

No picture today because I had borrow the book from my college professor. One of the best Sci fi dystopian novels I've ever read. A futuristic setting that doesn't take more than a squint to see as a possibility and a gripping tale. I love how much this book made me think especially because of the focus on food supply and energy. #booksetinasia #somethingforsept

I haven't read this yet, but I bought it at a library sale and it fits the #setinasia #booksetinasia theme taking place in South Korea. The sheet in the background is one my mother in law brought from China when she visited us to meet her grandson, so it kind of fits the theme in a nonbookish way. #somethingforsept #septemberphotochallenge

Wild Swans was absolutely my favourite book of 2002. Read most of it on a train to Kunming, China and was enthralled. Maybe should have looked up once in a while to take in the landscape 😳#booksetinasia #septphotochallenge #somethingforsept @RealLifeReading

RealLifeReading The Aquariums of Pyongyang sounds interesting! 8y
BookHermit @RealLifeReading It's a difficult read, heartbreaking but very interesting. 8y

As a family hides in the basement during WWII, it is interesting to learn Filipino folktales. I would not have read this has it not been for the Read Harder Challenge this year. #booksetinasia #somethingforsept @RealLifeReading @TheSpinecrackersBookClub @bookriot

I think I've mentioned this book in the past. I cannot suggest it enough if you are a WWII buff. The book moved me. When I was sent to the Philippines for work it amazed me to tour Bataan. Call me crazy but I swear I could feel some of the lost souls. #booksetinasia #somethingforsept @RealLifeReading @TheSpinecrackersBookClub

#somethingforsept #booksetinasia I have not read this one yet. Picked it up on a road-trip at McKay's in Nashville.

DGRachel It was incredible. I never want to read it again, but I made everyone I know read it. Powerful, gut-wrenching, disturbing, and worth every minute spent reading it. 8y
LisaJo Thanks @DGRachel - moving it up the TBR LIST. 8y
