Started last night and then had to go to bed, in part because of the waiting room today. While there, being a mom in waiting, I read. I didn‘t cry or sob. What a gift this book is. As with all of Bean‘s writing, it‘s genuine and poignant and wrenching, beautiful and poetic and earthy. This book is something I needed and will need again. Highly recommended.

cmastfalk The Whiskey Rebels? Historical novel with two storylines I expect will intertwine. Disgraced Revolutionary War spy veteran searching for the missing husband of his former fiancé. Woman and her husband duped into sacrificing everything for uncleared land in western PA. Somehow they‘re all going to be part of the Whiskey Rebellion. The protagonist is wonderfully wry. 5y
