In America, the law is king. ⚖️👩🏻‍⚖️

CatLass007 The United States Constitution is a beautiful, simply written document that people love to twist to suit their own needs 1w
sdbruening This isn‘t the Constitution. It‘s Thomas Paine‘s Common Sense. 1w

“While eating is the custom of Europe” 🤪 Sassy, Thomas Paine, in Common Sense.

I worked for the government for 35+ years at three different organizations. I‘ll come back to that later. As a #longtimefed I have a lot of thoughts about…all this. For a host of reasons I‘m reluctant to share much on “public” media for now, but I consider Litsy MY “safe space.”

I don‘t want to hurt anyone‘s feelings or make anyone uncomfortable, and I don‘t expect to change anyone‘s mind. If you want to ignore these posts, you can mute the tag.

Aims42 I would LOVE to hear/read your thoughts on these current events! Bring it on 🩷👍 2w
Tamra 👏🏾 My family has a long history of fed & state government service. Husband and I have made careers in state service. People don‘t seem to understand how society benefits. 2w

ImperfectCJ I suspect there aren't many people not affected by the cuts, even if they aren't federal employees/contractors. My dad was career military and has been a federal contractor since his military retirement. My spouse is in the biosciences, which rely on federal grants to fund drug discovery and not only further the development of life-saving medications but make the US THE place for scientists. The changes will have profound ripple effects. 2w
Susanita @ImperfectCJ @Tamra Absolutely. I‘ll get into this in my own way, but there are so many effects of these changes that will reverberate for a long time. 2w
The_Penniless_Author Another long-time fed here who would love to hear what you have to say. Hope you're hanging in there and weathering the storm as best you can. 2w
Susanita @The_Penniless_Author Thankfully, I retired a few years ago. Still, I can‘t help but notice what‘s happening with a bit of alarm. I hope you‘re hanging in there too! 2w
Suet624 Always happy to hear your thoughts. I was thinking this morning that our economy is so fragile and there are so many interconnecting parts to it. What they are doing right now to the economy alone is so dangerous. And of course there are so many other things to protest as well - health and safety and ... on and on and on. 2w

The_Penniless_Author Glad to hear you got out in time. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone is going to come out of this unscathed. I wish more people could understand just what's coming down the pike. Anyway, solidarity and best wishes to you and your loved ones. 2w
Amiable Thank you so much for sharing your experience and thoughts about the hellscape we are in. 🤬 1w

AZ. has early voting, I voted today with a heavy heart . I am one of the holdouts that loves to vote in person ON Election Day. I hate that I had fears of people acting up or worse at polling places , that I might be disenfranchised on the day. If you had told me a couple decades ago that thoughts like this were even possible, I would have said no. This is a big one, please vote .

AmyG That we are even at this point…blows my mind. 4mo
Leftcoastzen @AmyG me too ! I voted as soon as I was old enough, I always thought it was important, some of my friends thought it was nerdy or old fashioned. 😄 4mo

Pickpick

This is a very basic book about the Bill of Rights. It is annoying how often he refers to Washington and Jefferson as against slavery. They enslaved people. If they didn‘t believe in it, they weren‘t required to participate in it. Words vs action.
