(Day 28 - #Foul)

*Like a lot of other Littens, I chose Shakespeare for this.

“Begone, #foul dwimmerlaik, lord of carrion! Leave the dead in peace! ...no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Éowyn I am, Éomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.”

“‘I think one of his spies would — well, seem fairer and feel fouler, if you understand.'

'I see,' laughed Strider. 'I look #foul and feel fair. Is that it? All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost.'”

Love the Rebus Series by Ian Rankin, so wonderfully written.
The tagged book is the first book in the series.
#QuotsyMay19 #Foul

Libby1 I read this first book recently and loved it. 6y
Andrew65 @Libby1 The good news is the series only gets better and better from the first one. 6y
Mandoul I've read two of them and enjoying it so far 👍Its also fun to know the many alleys and back-streets that he talks about! 6y

Andrew65 @Mandoul Always helps a book when you know the area. 6y
gradcat Omigod, I love me some Rebus...great post, Andrew! 👍 6y
Bookwomble You piqued my interest with this post, so when I saw a book stall in the city market, I had a quick shufty and found a copy. Rankin's self-deprecating introduction in my edition is rather charming. Thanks for the steer 😊 5y
Andrew65 @Bookwomble I just love Ian Rankin, always worth checking out an interview or two from him on YouTube. Such a dour Scottish way of talking. I love his introductions to the books. Enjoy, they are a great series and Rankin uses the English language so well, the language almost envelopes you and gives you a warm glow. 5y

#QuotsyMay19 Day 28: Because no one says #Foul better than Shakespeare.

gradcat Yay! More Shakespeare! And you‘re so right—methinks he doth use “foul” better than any other writer!! ♥️ 6y

gradcat Absolutely! I try so hard (and fail sometimes, if I‘m honest) to live by this axiom. ♥️ 6y
EadieB @gradcat It's just a reminder to watch your language! lol 😁 😂 6y
gradcat It seems like it could also be a subtle warning against gossip, no? Anyway, it applies to me very well. 😂👍 5y
