Another one from the Ghost Story Collection. I quite enjoyed this particular story, centred on the belief that the dead can be disturbed in their sleep through a modern railway. A fun, quick read!

A collection of short ghost stories all written by the author. Like many collections, it's a mixed bag - some of the stories are really quite effective with the ambience & creeping sense of menace, whereas others either wander off into too much extraneous detail or frustratingly fizzle out just as they're getting good. Given James's background, it shouldn't come as a surprise that so many of the stories are based around religion & the Church.
Some morning short fiction with Casey, who still believes it‘s indecent to get up before 10:00. I‘m enjoying these very British, very Victorian winter ghost stories.
Bail at 42%. This is my first DNF in a while, but I just couldn't with the writing. So many commas! I remember watching The Innocents, which is an adaptation of the book staring Deborah Kerr, and we weren't overly thrilled with the movie either. I guess this isn't an interesting story to me.
More from the Christmas Ghost Story series. I really enjoyed this one and while not specifically about Christmas, there is a message that makes this a particularly appropriate story for the holidays. Looking forward to the next one!
From my TBR, subtitled “97 Stories to Read With the #Lights On”…. Ghosts and Christmas are a traditional combination.

The Woman in Black is a spooky, sad ghost story with an amazing sense of place.

This is a collection of Victorian-era (if memory serves) ghost stories. Are they bone-chilling, jump-out-of-your-skin scary? No, but they‘re thought-provoking and fun, in some cases. There‘s usually a larger comment about society at play with Victorian stories. Anyway, give this one a go if only for The Monkey‘s Paw! ☺️ April‘s Double #BookSpin
