Harris Finds His Feet | Catherine Rayner
Pickpick

Published in 2013, Harris finds his feet won the Kate Greenaway Medal for illustrations. This story is about a hare who has very large feet. Harris at first does not like his large feet but his grandad shows his all the benefits to having his big feet. I like this story because it has great illustrations and also has a good message about how everyone is different but you can still find beauty in the things that you may not like at first.

This book was published in 2008 and is about a hare and his grandfather. The hare has very large feet, and his grandfather teaches him all the things his feet can do for him. This story shows his journey to independence, and is an inspiring story. This story won the Kate Greenaway award. I would definitely use this in my classroom!

Pickpick

A woman with a secretive past moves from London to a remote village in Scotland to start a new life for herself, but the Henderson family that she rents from and others on the premises seem to hold secrets themselves. This book isn‘t scary, but is atmospheric & strange. The narrator isn‘t necessarily unreliable, but at times she seems unaware of what was just said wrapped up in her own thoughts which adds to the mystery of the characters & place.

Hare and Tortoise | Alison Murray

Pickpick

Hare and Tortoise by Alison Murray is a great TL story that would be a nice lesson for the classroom. Of course, it tells how slow and steady can still win the race and you don‘t have to be the fastest. I would use the strategy of RA, so the students can all listen and discuss when the story is done.
http://www.cpalms.org/Public/PreviewResourceLesson/Preview/60046. The UDL I would use is 3.3, guide information processing and visualization.

jmartucci I would use ESOL strategy 10 and have them use think, pair, share to discuss the story. #ucflae3414su19 5y
Estradan The resource you provided is great for 1st graders to learn about fables and learn about characters. The ESOL strategy you aligned it with fits perfectly with this resource because it‘ll give students to discuss what they thought the message of the story was. 5y
alexialovesmith This book would make a perfect read aloud. I used to love this story as a child, so giving students the opportunity to listen and then discuss it with one another is awesome! 5y
DrSpalding Going straight to our department of education website is a smart move Jaclyn. I‘m adding this version to my stack. Quality traditional literature and current variants are excellent read aloud‘s in the primary classroom. 5y
