HOLY SHIT. Mind=Blown. So I've posted before re: the b.s. that is #Ilvermorny history but I always focused on Thunderbird and Horned Serpent being used and because of that it's taken me this long to realize wtf a Pukwudgie is. This weird English pronunciation "Puck-wadgee" threw me off. It's Pagodjinnini (Pagodjini singular) in my language. We also normally don't talk about them to outsiders so thanks for that JKR ? I'm angry all over again.

queerbookreader Ugh god every time I look into her American history of magic I discover ~new and magical ways~ in which she has appropriated and erased cultures and histories that do not belong to her at all. And the worst part is it's been so long since she's published it, but she hasn't said anything about it!!!!! No "sorry folks I guess I cocked it up", no "my bad on clearly not consulting with literally anyone who knows anything about north American history" 6y
teebe @queerbookreader I don't think she'll ever comment on it, despite her reputation of being "woke". And on top of the appropriation, I guess there's some evidence that the art for the Ilvermorny houses was ripped off. It's all piling up. 6y

🙌🏼 Recently watched the movie and I came across this excellent article from last year:

#harrypotter #ilvermorny

Literaryunicorn That is a powerful commentary. I also love Harry Potter, but I didn't like the play, and I haven't seen Fantastic Beasts. I think at this point J.K. either can't move on and commit to something else, or she's only in it for the money. Neither is particularly good. 7y
teebe @Literaryunicorn i think part of it is that people won't let her let go. Her newer books have nothing to do with Harry Potter yet people still compare them. Plus, between her, Bloomsbury and WB, Harry Potter has definitely become a cash cow. The constant new editions, publishing the Fantastic Beasts script for really no reason, basing 5 movies on a book that's about 100 pages long... all proves that. 7y
Literaryunicorn @teebe You make a solid point. I think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle of her not letting go and fans not letting go of her! 7y

I love seeing everyone's Patronus and houses on here so I thought I'd share mine! #Patronus #HarryPotter #Hogwarts #Ilvermorny #Gryffindor

BookFreakOut Red Squirrel Slytherin! I don't put much stock in my Pukwhatever sorting because I kind of rushed that quiz but Slytherin is spot on for me! 8y
kylienoele @BookFreakOut Nice! 😸 I'm still pretty confused by the Ilvermorny houses. I hope she writes a book about it!! 8y
BooksAndMore I'm a Gryffindor and have the same patronus ♥ and a Pukewudgie 8y

My #patronus, apparently. I was hoping for a panda. I also finally took the Sorting quiz for #Ilvermorny, and I got #Pukwudgie. Seems right.

MrBook Ooh, greyhound! Nice! 8y

Yep, that's right. I found my Ilvermorny house in Pottermore. 😊 #harrypotter #ilvermorny #thunderbirdhouse #ravenclaw

BooksTeasAndBookishThings I have yet to see a Serpent. Only a few from Wampus, but mostly Thunderbirds and Pukwudgies. 8y
